This'll slow you down and you can still have fun. I'm getting one. When the time is right.

Some guy around the corner rides a Kawasaki Z125. It's surprising how loud a 150cc is with a muffler change. Decent growl too.

Groms have been tempting me for some time now. Have a buddy who has one, he keeps offering to let me take it for a ride but that may hit the old wallet a little more than I need. I got ride of my 05 CBR1000RR Repsol but still have a stagnant 91 ST1100 in the garage, I don't know if/when I'll ever get that one roadworthy again. My neighbor across the street just picked one up a few weeks ago, but I think it would cost more than it's worth to get it safely rolling again. Plus, it's a pretty complex bike with its V4, shaft drive, etc. For a lot less I could pick up a Grom and have a fun toy to putt around on.

The one thing I learned with the liter-class bike is that it's no fun driving a fast bike slow, but riding a slow bike fast is a blast!

I've been riding about 25 years, and lost count of the number of bikes I've owned (sold 3 to make it easier to move here). Right now the remainders are waiting for some now overdue maintenance, and one needs to get rebuilt after being totalled. :/

I've jonesed for one of these since I first saw one in the mid 90's with a velvet rope around it. CRW_5201.JPG

The only thing that was more drop dead gorgeous to me:

I have to put this one back together again....

Although the new Duc V4 is interesting... I'm just not down with the latest stylings.. and if I get another bike soon, it will probably be a V4 Tuono or some version of an H.D. bone shaker.

When people say you shouldn't meet your heros, it's not always about disappointment.. sometimes it's just a case of having "done it"... where do you go from there? :/

1997 Bimota Vdue would have to be my pick. Who hasn’t dreamed of throwing their leg over a 500cc two stroke moto gp bike. The Vdue was a failed attempt at designing a clean burning two stroke. The direct injection was problematic at best. All units were recalled and fitted with carburetors. This made it illegal here but the bike finally behaved the way it was intended. If money was no object, I’d find a way to get a carbureted model into my garage.

I can remember when most higher revving motors were two stroke. Most boat motors, most smaller motorcycles, and an 1960's Volvo car that was two stroke. Dad's truck, moms car, and the lawnmower was 4 stroke.

All I can do now is watch videos of the old 2 Stroke monsters. The Bimota had a 9500rpm red line. I'd own it too.

Going to go look at a used Africa Twin later this morning. 2017, 2000 miles, lots of accessories already installed, and the price seems good.

What are you going to do with the touring bike?

I'd have to sell it or trade it in. I'll have to see what their numbers look like. I'm on the fence with this deal now. I just paid off the NC last month, didn't plan on any more financing for a while, but this deal is at least worth looking at. They want 10K for a like new bike with several hundred dollars worth of accessories already installed.

The deal on the Africa Twin turned out to be not such a good deal. There is damage that didn't show up in the pictures. And their trade-in offer was the lowest of all lowballs. Never got anywhere near making a deal. Oh well, I'll keep the NC, at least it's paid for.

Those guys at Woods are absolute pricks. I’d never do business with them. I was trying to buy a used Speed Triple from them. They laughed at my blue book offer and proceeded to try to show me a bike that I “could afford.” I eventually bought a brand new Speed Triple. First stop was Woods so I could show them what I could afford!

    Yep, I'd agree with that.

Which of the Centex dealers are any good?

People around here go down there for deals. Dealerships here cater to 19yo E-Nothings living in the barracks with a government check.

Stay away from Killeen. Temple is better. I don't know about Waco. What I do know is Killeen is a tough town for dealerships.

I guess you can come here. To make that deal offered to you today look better.
