My pistols over the years have been all metal with a DA and/or SA. Recently I have been reevaluating 9mm polymer pistols.

So far I am evaluating the following pistols:

    Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0
    Walther PPQ M2
    Glock 17 Gen. 5
    CZ P-10 C

At the moment the CZ P-10 C is in the lead but I have not made a final decision to purchase it just yet.

Does anyone have any suggestions on other polymer 9mm pistols that would be good to evaluate for a potential purchase?

Hold them and shoot them. That's the best way to figure out what will work best for you. All four of those review well so you're picking from a good group.

Since you have a Beretta theme going there, doesn't hurt to try the Beretta APX out also.
    This^

Until you have a chance to shoot them and weigh the pros and cons it can be a crap shoot.

I second what sql said. Also, if it’s your first, don’t think you need the latest and greatest. Let’s say you pick up a gen 5 Glock and don’t like it, consider a gen 3 or 4. My gen 3 17 will always have a place in my arsenal. Same with the first gen mp’s. For an affordable price, the cz p09 and 07’s shoot great. Da is rough on em but in sa they are lasers. I also enjoy xd’s.

If you’re ever in the dfw area on a Saturday or Sunday and want to try different combat Tupperware pm me.

You really need to try them all. I currently own two on your list. My personal feelings are....

M&P M2.0 - I own the compact 4inch 9mm, 5 inch FDE 9mm & 40SW. A very good handgun out of the box and at a great value. Grip texture is awesome, trigger is good, sights are good, S&W lifetime warranty and it just works.

PPQ - I own the M1 version, but it is an excellent handgun. Trigger is great, sights are plastic so depends on use, Walther has excellent customer service if needed. grip texture is good to go. The PPQ is a little more snappy than others in its class, but not a deal breaker.

Glock 17 - I owned a Gen 3. It is a Glock and well if it works for you good deal. Sights get replaced right out of box. Trigger not bad, but my least favorite out of all on your list.

CZ P10C - I have shot a few. Great ergos, great grip texture, great trigger. One I checked out had a horrible mag release. It took pressing with a ton of force to release. CZ has excellent customer service if needed. They are coming out with a P10 full size and subcompact soon that do away with the ambi mag release, so that may be worth waiting for.

As mentioned above, the APX is worth looking at. I have seen the full size going for awesome prices lately. I had the compact and it was great, just did not end up serving in a role for me.

For me the P320 is my main service pistol. A full size TacOps 9mm with factory 21 round mags is my home defense weapon. Then I carry the P320 compact or sub compact as needed. Worth checking out for sure.

Then also as mentioned above, since you are already familiar with DA/SA and SAO, check out the CZ P09/P07 line. I have both and they are excellent values! DA trigger does need time to break in, but gets better with every pull!

Then while I do not own any right now, take a look at FN FNS and FN 509 line. Outstanding pistols for sure.

I have a P10C, it’s awesome, complaints on mag release are on a full mag, empty and locked back easy as any other. It just fits my hands better then the Glock.

What's the purpose of this pistol?

My "match" pistol for shooting defensive pistol matches at my club is a Canik TP9SFx. Mine is the one that comes with the Vortex red dot. It's got the best trigger I've seen on a poly gun. It's better than most upgraded Glock triggers. There's an aftermarket trigger for it that makes it better.

If ya want to head out this way and put some rounds through it just let me know.

Hey m5215, I see you are in Plano. When I want to try a new pistol I go to the Target Masters range down in old Garland. They have a good selection of rental pistols. Their website is- http://targetmasters.com/Rentals

I have talked myself into and out of a couple of different pistols over the years doing this. Also, I have a Glock 34, the M&P first gen, an XD and a Sig 320. PM me if you want to shoot any of mine.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. The information and opinions offered have been helpful. If anyone else has any more to add please feel free to add any additional comments or questions.

As far as the purpose of this pistol acquisition, it will primarily be used for home defense and range use however once I get my LTC it may also be used for some concealed/open carry as well.

Change your list from the 17 to the 19. It has a shorter grip which would be easier to CC. Or if you’re set on the 17 then get a 17. The CZ P10C is a performer. Really smooth trigger. It’ll also fit in Glock 19 holsters.

One thing to say about the PPQ M2 is that trigger reset is money. I believe Walther said reset travel was something like 1-2 millimeters. Unreal. I’ve heard some grumbling for a few people in gun shops that it isn’t the most reliable thing

    I own several Glocks.
I bought a Walther PPQ M2 Navy, I've put 3-4K rds through it.
Not a single issue, and it is my new favorite range gun.
It also will fit in a G19/23 holster, of course both of those will fit in a G17/22 holster.

ETA: The HK VP guns will also fit in those holsters.

These people are morons. I haven't heard of a single complaint about PPQs, ever.

If you want a gun that hits where you look, every time, get the PPQ.

If you wanna try out mine (it's the M1 with the clearly superior paddle release) let me know.

FWIW they were also the same people who told me everything was inferior to Glock. I haven’t been back to that place since.
