FWIW they were also the same people who told me everything was inferior to Glock. I haven’t been back to that place since.

    Opinions are like...well you know.

I'm a weird duck, I like Glocks (except the Gen 5 19, they screwed that one up with the magazine cutout). Many don't. Shrug.

As long as it's not one of those antique 1911s*, you should be good to go.

*Sorry, it's just too much fun trolling you guys.

    * I sure hope you realize I'm just trolling right back when I put the 1911 on a pedestal. Me, anyway. I don't know about others.

But yeah, the PPQ trigger is most excellent. Almost as good as a 1911 trigger.

Almost as good. Actually the H&K VP series seems to have the same trigger as the PPQ.

My recent research turned up some interesting information.

It looks like I will be removing the CZ P-10 C from my list for now. Apparently there are several small design flaws and a lower frame cracking issue that CZ claims to not be a problem however I am not going to risk anything on an issue like that.

The new leader is now the Walther PPQ M2 however I have discovered one issue that could possibly be a concern. Apparently the slide release lever is so long that it is too easy to manipulate and can cause the slide to prematurely close after a magazine is empty. I don't know how widespread this is but I have read 2 separate comments about it happening to others. The possibility of having to completely rack the slide after loading a new magazine is not something that I want to have to do so unless I plan for this pistol to only be a range gun it may not be best for all of the intended uses that I have planned for it.

Hasn't been an issue for me but then again I don't have frying skillets for hands. Proper two thumbs grip and you won't have any issues.

However, if you're seriously worried about the extended mag releases of the PPQ, and want the gun for both range, home and carry, I suggest having a look at the P99 instead.

Instead of the same trigger system as a Glock (pre-cocked double action only), you get a true striker fired DA/SA gun. You can shoot it in double action, carry it decocked, and after the first shot, it's in single action. You can also switch between DA and SA at any time by either pressing the decocker or racking the slide for a quarter of an inch. And it has a short slide release on the left side only, as opposed to the dual-sided long slide release levers. But it also has the magazine release built into the trigger guard, so there's that.

But seriously, accidentally operating the slide release hasn't been an issue for me.

Never experienced this with my Walther.

What are you saying about a DA only trigger on a Glock?

I may have missed this point, but do you qualify for Glock Blue Label pricing? If so, and you go with Glock, consider the G17-5 MOS or the G45. Both do not have that stupid mag cutout.

Otherwise, PPQ/Canik/M&P 2.0/XDm/VP9 are ALL great choices.

I stick with Glock due to the interchangeable mags and parts...but starting out, you don’t have that issue.

    Take care

My only issue for the M 2 is that PPQs have a higher center if geavity. This results in snappier recool and MAY lead to slower split times.

It's a meh issue. I believe PPQs are also windage adjustable. That's a big deal to me. If I were doing it again, I'd look real hard at getting one if it feels good when you try it out.

They are, and you can really feel the difference as the mag gets emptier. But I believe that goes for all plastic guns.

I believe PPQs are also windage adjustable.

In the US, they are, to get enough "sporting" points to be importable as per GCA 1968. In other markets, they have the same sights as the PPS, i.e. rear sight is pressed in and windage adjustable via sight pusher.

IF you're looking for compact or smaller, I haven't found one I like more than the Springfield XD Mod2 Subcompact. Fullsize polymer, I like the HK VP9. Full size metal, I like CZ SP01.
