Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part, but I don't see Beto having much success running for president or running against Cornyn in 2020. Betomania seems to me more of an "all the stars aligned just right" thing, fueled by liberal anger over Trump and Cruz's general unlikeability even among some factions of the GOP. Cruz also got dragged down by leftover baggage from the presidential run, and Beto made a lot of hay from that. Cornyn won't have those problems. I also think Cruz didn't take Beto seriously enough early on, or maybe even at all. I'm as big a Cruz fan as there is but I was extremely frustrated by his campaign, particularly in the beginning stages while I watched the Beto boomlet grow virtually unchallenged.

When you get Beto out of his element, and actually challenge and force him away from the flowery, meaningless word jumbles he's so adept at, he's a bumbling fool. A complete and total fraud, utterly clueless about anything beyond the standard lib talking points. Even if the press lets him get away with it, and they will, the other Dem candidates won't. Also, the guy has a ton of baggage in his past that for inexplicable reasons Cruz either never exposed (his family business in all likelihood laundered drug money) or sat on waiting for a complicit press to finally get around to it (his DWI, trying to eminent domain a barrio). I don't see how he keeps all that under wraps in a national campaign; the lights just shine so much brighter.

As I said, maybe wishful thinking on my part. The guy strikes me as the empty suit of all empty suits - there is absolutely no there there. But he certainly knows how to make liberals swoon, and that may be enough. I don't know.

That empty suit raised more money (and spent it) in a Senate race than anyone else. Ever. AND drew more voters for a D Senate candidate in Texas, ever.

For some, that’s enough reason to take it to the next level, precisely because it happened in Texas AND it was against Cruz.

A male aoc.......dumb, hot air, windbag commie with zero to offer.....but hey, the girl children who're old enough to vote like him.

Yep, and pulling along the testosterone challenged males who hang with those women.

Reminds me of the horse business ... men hang around that business because of the women who flock to horses, not because they want to screw a horse.

Beto should stick with Congress in his Democratic Congress. The Dems will smash him as they did with Sanders if he isn't careful or with them in the Dem elite. I think he was smoking weed with Willie Nelson when he made those commercials. They had no message. He claimed to be bipartisan. His lips were fully attached to Pelosi's butt and if had been elected to the Senate they would then be attached to Schumer's butt. I think more than anything that scuttled his run is all the celebrities who were endorsing him and all the money coming from outside Texas. Real Texans hate Hollywood idiots. They also resent the hell out of outsiders wanting to change Texas to be more like California and New York.

Do not sell this guy short. He has a lot of money left over from the campaign and he now has two years to campaign and work on the Democrat Party machine. You not have to like the guy, but you better not discount nor underestimate him. He probably will run against Cornyn (he has to file long before the Demo convention) and at the convention he will have lots of people working to get him nominated. He can always drop the Senate run if nominated for President or VP.

Iowa Dems love the idea of O'Rourke for President. Recent article on this, can't remember where I saw it. May have been WSJ.

He paid a single consulting firm $18M in one quarter. That’s $6M a month.

And I’m sure there’s zero chance any of that money makes it’s way back to The Irishman’s personal interests.
