I agree with Darkpriest, the Republican Party needs to start fighting AND winning the PR war. Hispanic populations can and do embrace conservative, right wing governance. South and Central American history is replete with examples of past conservative national governments. And frankly, the Republican Party (the Party of Lincoln) has done a pathetic job of driving home the point: the long term harm the Democratic Party has done to America’s Black population in keeping them repressed and dependent on government handouts (its own form of slavery). I know there are smart minds in the advertising world (on Madison Avenue) who could figure out how to get that message across (in spite of the Hollywood propaganda).

What the Ds do well is running a popularity contest that’s generally based on trying to make their opponent appear incompetent, followed by champagne promises without a real plan to actually make it happen.

Not sure that's a fair comparison, given the treasonous actions of our current illustrious (in their minds) overlords (on both sides of the isle)...

The wall would be well on it's way to being done if not for continuous obstruction & deflection of the Quisling Congress.

Obamacare would be repealed if not for the selfish/egotistical act (and that's the least egregious of potential motives) of Shitstain McCain.

Nothing new under the sun when it comes to human nature, so I'll leave you with this:

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear." - Marcus Tullius Cicero, 42 B.C.

While things can always be better...I’m thankful we don’t have the equivalent of Mary Nichols at CARB, an unelected, appointed official, literally making laws and setting policy.

Trump used the same tactics. “Lock her up” is just one example.

Both of the above campaign promises were champagne dreams with no real plan in place to either walk back OCare or actually create secure borders.

As a whole, a few more people bought his popularity contest more than hers.

Neither actually campaigned on how to most effectively govern at the federal level.

The VT socialist guy nearly got the D nomination by simply promising ‘free stuff’ and literally paying off voters with student debt.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the Ds play out the next 6-12 months testing messages and personalities to see what resonates with the most people.

Ok, I get it. This is not anything new. However, what is it about the Democrat message that people are foolish enough to want to support or why the Republican message is less persuasive?

    https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2018/11/voters_electing_democrats_who_despise_them.html

Pathetic these transplants leave a "sh$thole" for greener pastures, only to come and vote the same "dimwits" who mucked up the state they are escaping from or these young millennials who are "still living the fantasy." When these millennials reach their prime in earning years, there might not be the economy they had been "fantasizing" once the leftists have had their say in "central planning" and 1001 ways to wreck an economy.

It's conservative policies that have resulted in a TX boom and has resulted in the state attracting new opportunities along with new voters. The dichotomy of thought and ignorance of these newcomers is disheartening.

“Those new residents are changing the partisan hue of once-reliably Republican suburbs and fueling a massive surge in new voters in solidly Democratic urban cores that even Republicans acknowledge will put the state’s massive haul of electoral votes in play for the first time in a generation."

The Democrats had an open playing field for 36 years to pretty much do what they wanted to during elections. As of December 1, 2017 the playing field will be equal. The Republicans will be able to observe every aspect of elections and they will be able to recruit new members into the party like the Democrats have for the last 4 decades.
Did you know that since 1982, the Republican Party had been legally prohibited from contesting elections due to suspected vote fraud, because of a legal agreement called the Consent Decree the GOP made with the Democrat Party?

Finally, 36 years later, a judge has ended the agreement, freeing the Republican Party to ensure electoral integrity by investigating and pursuing suspected vote fraud.

    THE 1982 CONSENT DECREE

As I explained in my post of November 15, 2012, “Why the GOP won’t challenge vote fraud,” in 1981, during the gubernatorial election in New Jersey (NJ), a lawsuit was brought against the Republican National Committee (RNC), the NJ Republican State Committee (RSC), and three individuals (John A. Kelly, Ronald Kaufman, and Alex Hurtado), accusing them of violating the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (VRA), 42 U.S.C. §§ 1971, 1973, and the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments to the Constitution of the United States.

The lawsuit was brought by the Democratic National Committee (DNC), the NJ Democratic State Committee (DSC), and two individuals (Virginia L. Peggins and Lynette Monroe).

    The lawsuit alleged that:

    · The RNC and RSC targeted minority voters in New Jersey in an effort to intimidate them.

    · The RNC created a voter challenge list by mailing sample ballots to individuals in precincts with a high percentage of racial or ethnic minority registered voters. Then the RNC put the names of individuals whose postcards were returned as undeliverable on a list of voters to challenge at the polls.

The lawsuit was brought by the Democratic National Committee (DNC), the NJ Democratic State Committee (DSC), and two individuals (Virginia L. Peggins and Lynette Monroe).

    The lawsuit alleged that:

    · The RNC created a voter challenge list by mailing sample ballots to individuals in precincts with a high percentage of racial or ethnic minority registered voters. Then the RNC put the names of individuals whose postcards were returned as undeliverable on a list of voters to challenge at the polls.

    • The RNC enlisted the help of off-duty sheriffs and police officers with “National Ballot Security Task Force” armbands, to intimidate voters by standing at polling places in minority precincts during voting. Some of the officers allegedly wore firearms in a visible manner.
To settle the lawsuit, in 1982 — while Ronald Reagan was President (1981-1989) — the RNC and RSC entered into an agreement or Consent Decree, which is national in scope, limiting the RNC’s ability to engage or assist in voter fraud prevention unless the RNC obtains the court’s approval in advance.

The two parties agreed that “in the future, in all states and territories of the United States,” they would:

    (d) refrain from giving any directions to or permitting their employees to campaign within restricted polling areas or to interrogate prospective voters as to their qualifications to vote prior to their entry to a polling place;

    (e) refrain from undertaking any ballot security activities in polling places or election districts where the racial or ethnic composition of such districts is a factor in the decision to conduct, or the actual conduct of, such activities there and where a purpose or significant effect of such activities is to deter qualified voters from voting; and the conduct of such activities disproportionately in or directed toward districts that have a substantial proportion of racial or ethnic populations shall be considered relevant evidence of the existence of such a factor and purpose;

    (f) refrain from having private personnel deputized as law enforcement personnel in connection with ballot security activities.

The RNC also agreed that the RNC, its agents, servants, and employees would be bound by the Decree, “whether acting directly or indirectly through other party committees.”

To put it bluntly, the Consent Decree in effect gave a carte blanche to the Democrat Party to commit vote fraud in every voting district across America that has, in the language of the Consent Decree, “a substantial proportion of racial or ethnic populations.” The term “substantial proportion” is not defined.

In 1987, the Consent Decree was modified to define “ballot security activities” as “ballot integrity, ballot security or other efforts to prevent or remedy vote fraud.”

Evidently the Republicans lost pretty much every position that ran in Harris County. This a major sea change for Texas, when you lose the center of the US oil and petrochemical business.
Remember the left and MSM 's tactic is to say something over and over and make sure the media is reporting the same mantra. They all want to use the same teleprompter to put their message out. They hope that if said enough times and then printed and reported on TV that the gullible will come to believe.

This does not make the rhetoric true just makes it monotonous and loud. Look on this thread, we even have the left mantra being repeated. Don't believe it and remember that the 36 years is up and what they learned is going to get them in trouble. The Republican party can now press their virtues.

This sight is becoming a platform for the lefts, parroting. Enough for me.

Once upon a time, not that long ago, Texas had both Democrats and Republicans who were dedicated to the Right of The People to KEEP and BEAR Arms. With the rise of the Educrats, the Democrat supporters of the 2nd Amendment have almost disappeared. This should be our concern. The political situation we face today is the direct result of the 1961 Supreme Court decision that mandated "one man, one vote" and outlawed state legislative chambers based upon anything but numbers of people in each legislative district. If there is no requirement to compromise based upon competing interests, there won't be any compromise and only numbers rule. Democracy is inherently tyrannical.

Trump's greatest accomplishment was to defeat both major political parties in his presidential campaign.
