Anybody keeping up with the riots in France?

I try to not knock the French to much, as my dad told me plenty of stories & had pictures to back up his adventure in WWII. I figure I might have bastard kin folk there!

Brits were on the ropes until we entered the war.

Had we not entered the war Britain would have fallen. Russkies would not have prevailed over Germany in a one front war.

Besides the greatest contribution France ever made to society was the BJ.

I understand the sentiment but you might consider that France aided us in the American Revolution. The statue of Liberty is a gift from France as a gesture of good will. Further, the AR-15's direct gas impingement design was invented by a Frenchman - and is the system utilized by the MAS 44 "series" of carbines - the most common of which is the 49/55. I also believe that Dr. Louis Pasture was French - along with a bunch of other scientists like Marie Curry. So, France has done it's part...

The Statue of Liberty was originally to go to europe no the Us.

They kicked us out of France because they didn't want naato troops stationed there.

As for the rest, well they would now be called German Scientists if it wasn't for the Dooughboys and GIs.

The rest of the allies couldn't have freed France if we weren't involved. So maybe France should thank Japan for Pearl Harbor.

France has one group or another on strike or rioting
since the 60s. I was there and got attacked by them.

Once read an interesting tale of the French way of thinking.
After WW2 many former German military men signed up with the French Foreign Legion.
The French got themselves into a mess in Indochina and sent the FFL in.
Those of you who were there know it is a very warm place.
During one road march an armoured unit of these ex-german Legionnaires came under attack by the Viet Minh.
The unit was ordered to abandon their vehicles and retreat.
One tank crew in particular fought like demons to retrieve their tank. They were successful.
They were given medals for doing so.
When the higher ups started to investigate why they fought so hard to rcover the tank it was discovered this particular tank had an air conditioner.
One of the german crewman was an engineer and had devised a working A/C and installed it in the tank.
So the crew was then punished for modifying government property.

Marie Curie was Polish.

lol OK I was just pulling stuff off the top of my head. The fact is, France has contributed a lot to our culture, science and technology. Just saying that they don't deserve all the derision that they get really.

That being said, do I want us to emulate France of today? Hell no.

Now that is a true tale of the military mind. Find a way to make something better without approval and you are punished for it. No matter how well the improvement worked or was needed.

The French got US into the VIETNAM WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They wanted dominance in the region but lost a humiliating defeat in 1954.
Dwight took over to defeat Communism (promised to help the French) but the French said something like "I got to go now......... I think I hear my mother calling me."

As an adult I realize it was a gag, but there was actually an early-1960s edition of Compton's Encyclopedia that showed the flag of France as 100% white.

This might just show that socialism does not work. The thing is there as opposed to here is since they are not as "diverse" there is no "victim class" like blacks have been made into by the democratic party to control votes.
