    Helotes!
The attitudes of the people defending this store are enough to keep me from going in there. The attitude of the store itself in the review responses is just icing on the cake.

    I agree wholeheartedly.

Also it’s been a month now, OP needs to nut up and move on. It’s over. Let it go.

Your ax has been ground. Get over it.

I have gotten over it. I've been over it, since I went to another FFL. I have bought and sold other guns since then. And I stayed out of this thread for long while. All I did was post my experience, if people defend him, that's fine. But if people keep insulting me on his behalf, I'll call them out on that. If you don't want to read it, you don't have to click on this thread. You actually have a choice, imagine that.

What I don't understand is who's forced to read posts in any of the multitude of threads on this site?

    Don't like a thread or a post?

    Hhhhhmmm, what to do?

Right, don't open the thread - sounds easy enough to me.

Me, I like this thread and not one bad person made me read it.

I have seen better customer service at pawn shops, where customers would yell and scream at them for not taking their junk as loan collateral, and yet the staff would still remain calm.

I have also seen pawn shop employees shred my receipts or documents with personal information before I leave the store. Compare to this gun store owner who claims to know who I am weeks after I left without completing a FFL transaction. How does he know who I am? Did he memorize my name, or keep my documents in a file somewhere - for what purpose? Even if he didn't know who I was, why publicly state that on the internet? Was that a threat of some kind?

How do you explain his post accusing me of being rude, cold, and unprofessional, accusing me of trying to get him to do something against the law (a lie), as well as claiming to know who I am despite no transaction - how do you explain that as reasonable and "good customer service"?

It's his words you have to look at, not mine.

I don't really understand this concept of defending a business. Would he do the same for you? Are you a personal friend of the owner? Or did he just take your money in exchange for some merchandise? If you didn't give him money, what would he have to do with you? Would he give you the time of day otherwise?

I will say Scott Burris of Lone Star Tactical Supply in Cypress exemplifies good customer service. A firearms enthusiast and competition shooter, he is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to guns including NFA. He specializes in LE sales and weapons. I've never seen him in a bad mood. And his FFL fee is $15 (if buyer is a permit holder). Ship out cost are the same as the guy who kicked me out.

    Hi,

My reply was for @toddnjoyce who asked why he should give visit this store at least once before deciding to never come back.

As for your case, I've said multiple times that it's strange and I really don't know what to say. But I thought I've presented myself well and didn't anywhere insult you. If I did, I am sorry. That's all I am going to say and I am going to stay out of this from now on.

I have been to this store twice.
The first time , i just happened to see it driving by. So i stopped in to look around.
There was an older couple purchasing two guns and signing up for their ltc class, a few guys browsing, and myself.
I really wasn't looking for anything and just checking out the store as it was my first time in there. I was looking at holsters when 2 of the employees asked if i needed any help, i said no i was just looking. Afterwards i looked over their pistols when i noticed David's [i think that is the owners name] wife kept eyeing me while she was dealing with the couple who purchased the pistols. This went on for a few minutes. Then David came over to me and asked if i needed help, i said no and i was just looking. He followed me up and down the gun case/display as i browsed. {This was a little over a year ago , and i had just gotten back into firearms after a 20 year sabbatical , point being i was re educating myself on new models etc.} After another few minutes of him following me around , i explained that i was just getting back into guns and trying to get up to speed...and that i wasn't planning on buying anything right now and i didn't want to bother anyone or take up their time.
His response was "well just leave then" . I responded by saying, excuse me ,what was that? And he said, well if you didn't plan to buy anything why come in? Why case my store?
Again i said excuse me? I'm wearing my company uniform , driving a company vehicle with their logo all over it. I point this out and he says, i think it's time to go.
I thank them for their time and leave.
    Never thought of them again.

Fast forward to 2 months ago.
I was looking to buy another pistol, and was down in their area and seen the sign and thought i would stop in and see if they had what i wanted in stock.
As soon as i walked in i remembered what happened on my last visit. And i thought oh well maybe he was having a bad day.
So i continue to browse around waiting for someone to become available, everyone was with customers, when his wife comes over very politely and asks if i need help, i say yes ma'am , i'm looking to buy one of these 4-5 guns and noticed you have them here in stock.
So we go over to where the were and she starts telling me about each one pros cons etc.
Gets them out one at a time so i can handle them, and when i narrow it down to 3 , i asked her if she could keep all 3 out so i can hold them back to back and compare the triggers.
She looked at me funny ,agrees , and i continue to compare them. I get them narrowed down to 2 and just can't make up my mind. So i ask do the manufacturers have any deals, rebates etc. for those two, thinking that could tip me one way or the other. She turned her head smirked and gave me the stink eye.
I explained why i asked...David comes over and asked what the problem was. I say , no problem , trying to make up my mind on which of these 2 i should buy. And i ask him his opinion and if the manufactures had any deals which may sway me.
And i tell him , not with price , his price was good , but with mags ,bags, rebates etc.

He looks down back up and says "maybe you should decide elsewhere ...then come back and buy when you're ready and have made your mind up"

I reached in my pocket pulled out 1500.00 bucks and change and said , i am ready to buy now , whats the problem?
He says, oh well ok , can i show you this other gun? I think you'll like it.
I said no thank you i want to buy one of these 2.
If i can just decide on which one as i chuckled.
He said again, "maybe you should decide elsewhere ...then come back and buy when you're ready and have made your mind up"

I said, you know you're right... Gathered everything i had picked out put it all back.
    And left the store.

Decided which gun i wanted to buy , went to another shop that i found down the street from me and bought it.
It's a shop i think a lot of shop strive to be.
Come in browse ,have a coke or cup of coffee free of charge. They have a build station for riffles , they like to hang out and talk and help you decide what you want and how to set it up, even if you have to buy the parts elsewhere.

Anyway, yeah i won't ever go back there again, i found there are plenty of shops around that truly want you as a customer and a long term one at that, they will go out of their way to help. I don't need stink eyes and attitude and be forced to feel like they are going out of their way help me as a" favor".

Thank you for the very useful additional data.
I wanted to add it earlier , but didn't have the time to sit down and post it.
I think it is odd though how some stores act towards customers.
When I first got back into guns , and had already purchased my first one , I went down to Carter Country on Tresswick ( sp?).
Shot for a bit , then went inside to look around , every single one behind the counter acted like I was bothering them with any question I had. Went back 3-4 more times and it was always the same. Girls that ran the range check in where always polite and nice , but damn everyone else just rude . I think I have been in there once in the last year , looking for misc. parts and accessories.
    Same attitude. Unreal.
I don't know about you guys , but when I'm going to purchase another firearm, I research it , and then want to feel it in my hand .
I don't always just have 500- 1500 bucks in my pocket to just run right out and buy. So if it bothers you for me to ask questions and want to hold a gun or two , then I wont buy from you.
These guys act like we are shopping for 65 dollar shoes .

Agreed, I research myself and at times will research months in advance of having the money to buy.

I don't even bother buying from gun stores any more. Pawn shops, Texasguntrader, and the classified ads in this forum are where it's at for me. With pawn shops, you can even haggle a little or find a great deal as they don't know much about guns and just want to move merchandise.

I found this neat little H&R .22LR/.22Mag revolver, with original box, from a pawn shop for $140.

I started this thread to help people avoid a bad experience with these gun shop owners. Who needs that? My experience was weird, but I know I'm not crazy. :D

Not only are they hurting their business, but they're making gun owners and gun-business owners look bad.

ML, good to see you posting.

I've bought 2 guns recently and both places had knowledgeable, good folk working the counters.

Cabelas in League City and Primary Arms.

I love buying at Primary arms.
Haven't purchased a gun from them yet , however have built a few through them and bought a bunch of my pistol parts and accessories from them. I work down in Freeport every now and again, and always try to stop in and order/ pick up on the way home.
