However, I have no idea why his are extended at speed (appears to be at speed) Guess the computer obviously called for them.
Decided to put this in cool piccys. My oldest has an old Sauer 44mag handed down from grandpappy. He's pretty mechanically minded and has it cleaned up and shooting great but it has chintzy plastic handles that dont fit. One of his days off recently he decided to build a set for it. Pretty decent work if I do say so myself. No finish on em yet.

Probably because he's entering a hard turn. Needs as much wing surface as possible. A lot of older planes (later model F-86's thru F-4's and probably more recent ones) had slats that were automatically deployed by aerodynamic forces in tight turns.
