My take on him burning through $80M may not be very popular on this forum.

With my maximum cynicism turned on: more power to him (that assumes he stays out of jail, after the fact).

If he’s found a LEGAL way to make himself, his family members and/or close friends rich and perpetually indebted to him, then more power to him!

Democrat donors were just plain stupid for giving so much money to an “unknown” with hopes he’d somehow hit the ‘long shot’. He actually gave it a pretty good try. I recall during the campaign, the Democrat Party brought a little heat on him for not giving back some of that money, in order to help out other races where they felt they had a better chance of winning. Beto wouldn’t do it. Obviously, he had plans for that money!

I guess my take is a bit right of yours....if the guy is immoral, unethical and downright dishonest, I don't care if he is cheating queers or communists, it is still a sad day for American politics which I thought could not sink much lower.

Wouldn't mind giving everyone running for Federal office a specific amount of taxpayer dollars to fund a campaign for office in each Federal election.

No other outside contributions/funding of any type allowed - personal, lobbyist, corporate, etc. None!

Would likely save the taxpayer Trillions of budget dollars in the long run just on lobbyist paid influence peddling.

The big question is this. Is he going to run for the Senate again? Or go for President?

IMHO as far as I can see he has NO qualifications for President. He's a mediocre politician, he's never ran a business. All he's got is that "Kennedy" look.

He doesn't need any "extra" money, other than he is a cheap bastard. His wife is worth billions...like "John Kerry would kick the mere single billion Heinz bitch to the curb for her, just like Lurch kicked his mere millions wife out" money...

And in case anyone missed this article.

Article crowing about how much ".... support he generated in Texas", when much of his $upport came from out of state, and he still lost?

Nonetheless: "The place where Democrats need to make inroads is not on the left coast or the right coast."

    Ominous words ....

IMHO, Beto got far too many votes. We had better be diligent and get the heck out and vote in full force going forward. I waited in line on election day for over an hour but it was worth it. I'd bet that I was probably one of very few that voted R... downtown Austin.

While living @ Austin some 25 years ago, we flew back in a day early, in order to vote for Kay Bailey Hutchison. Only to find that our polling place for our relatively conservative southside neighborhood had been surreptitiously "moved" by the democraps who run the PRTC. The ONLY "notice" of the "new" poll's location had cleverly been run in the previous Thursday's Austin UN-American Subversive Statesman, which had all been discarded by the Saturday election day. We never got to vote because of this nasty trick. leVieux

Ah, the good old days when we had a cheer leader Senator AND a cheer leader Governor - literally.

    baboon,

"Beto" reminds me a LOT of a young "Teddy, the drunk driver" Kennedy, as he will obviously TRY anything, no matter how immoral, to try to get a higher political office.
(I wonder if "Teddy" liked to wear women's undies & dresses as Beto does??)

Further, as far as I know, "Teddy" wasn't a BISEXUAL, either.

    yours, satx

. . . and now, he doesn't have a job. Cuz new Congress and everything. So that brings a smile to my face.

I think beta for pres would be interesting. Though I don’t discount his ability to win large numbers of votes, the party infighting due to him be a white “male” would be a conundrum worth watching. Either way 2020 will be an election for the ages.

As an aside, I’m gonna vote for Trump again just to continue to piss folks off. He has certainly screwed up but to vote for him again will blow people’s minds.
