Just remember with a good mig wire fed machine you will need argon gas, un like the fluxcore wire machines. Depending in where you live having to go fill the bottle could be a chore. Small bottles run out faster but easier to transport, big bottle last longer harder to transport.

A small bottle of Argon at the welding supply runs about $35 or so... I keep two, when one runs out, I go exchange it and always have a spare.
You can do a bunch of welding on one of the small bottles...
And, if you keep some flux core wire around, you don’t use gas on that

OP, that is a good welder at a great price for the at home hobby welder. They’ve been making them just like that for over 50 years. I gave $75 for a used one 17 years ago, and used it regularly until I sold it for $100 last June because I was moving.

Ya'll have brought out some really valid points.

And, if you keep some flux core wire around, you don’t use gas on that
Vmax brought up the best point I had forgotten about....Wind

You can forget about gas and a nice gas system welder because they are for crap in the wind outside (obvious reasons)

Flux core Mig is fine and cheap and the "Cracker Box" you showed us is more than adequate. Really all you will ever need and no reason to worry about it. We are talking about some machines here that are quite a bit more than the average homeowner needs.

I am not a weldor or a welder. I had one of these and it worked fine. I had a hard time with starting the arc and felt that it took a lot of skill. I bought a cheapy wire feed from harbor freight and use that when I need to stick metal together. It is easy, but probably way under powered. I haven't needed to weld anything larger than about 1/8" so I can't comment on the penetration. Realized as I typed that it is ripe for ooc...

I went with easy and sufficient as opposed to more capable in the long run. Experience level one box of sticks and 3 rolls of flux core wire.
