After the way they entered the U.S. market, would anybody trust these guys to build a rifle?

    Has anybody seen/held/shot/bought one?

Ben, I know nothing of them other than they appear to have been pushing their brand in a lot of places, but adoption of their brand doesn’t appear to have paid off.

As for assembling a firearm from outsourced pieces isn’t too difficult. Clean sheet designs produced entirely in-house from scratch is a whole different equation and much more difficult.

I personally am not an early adopter of truly innovative or entirely new products when it comes to firearms. I prefer others to do the test piloting.

Some don't know the history. Short version - They put out an intriguing but flawed pistol that was recalled in 2013. They didn't even announce replacements until 2016. In short, they screwed over a lot of people.

More of the story is here though that page isn't exactly complete.

Well their origin is UAE. I wouldn't give them my money.

At Shot in 2013, they had a nice booth. Heck last year their booth was still nice. I thought they either offered a replacement or a refund? I like the design much better than a lot of other things. I have never shot one though. Many folks suggested you'd be buying a gun from a terror group. I saw their AR. It looked like all the other enter level ones. Branding is important though

They did, though the replacements generally didn't show up. AFAIK, everybody eventually got paid. Eventually.

After all is said and done, I believe the best use of the first-gen Caracals would have been to hang on to them, ignoring the recall. They'll probably be rare collectibles some day.

    Buy known good brands.

    Steer away from unknowns.

    Simple.
The year is 1990. I go to Rangemaster - "Hey Tom, I got a G17. Not on approved list, can you make an exception?". "No. Ain't no one here gonna carry a POS plastic gun.". A couple years after I left in 99, Glock 40 was issued across the board.
Caracal may be good or bad but they fessed up to issues and did the recall. Many owners stated they had no issues with theirs.

I owned their original pistol. I think they got a guy from glock to help design the pistol. I loved it.

The design was unique in that the slide was not as tall as others. They suggested this would allow you to raise your grip closer to bore axis. They also had some versions with what they called quick acquisition sights (or something like that) the rear sight was in the middle of the slide. My version wasn’t like that.

As a shooter it was great. The ergonomics were great and the trigger was better than the glock or M&P9 I had at the same time. I shot it pretty well.

I never noticed any issues but they did issue a recall. I think (?) there was a slide that cracked that got posted on a lot of forums.

I opted for cash on the recall and I got paid. I didn’t want the thought in the back of my head that the gun would break and injure me.

I’d buy again but it isn’t the top of the list right now.
