Still the Mosin Nagant. It's a bruiser and when you hold it and feel how heavy it is it makes you appreciate the poor bastards carrying it through the Russian Winter in 2 World Wars all the way back to the Russo Japanese War.

"Favorite" is very different from best or most useful or any other criteria. It calls to the heart and nowhere else.

My favorite is the Remington Nylon 66 in Apache Black that I inherited from my mother.

I had one of those in black in the early 60's and regret to this day for ever trading it off.

My favorite is my Romanian PSL.

My go to is a modern tactical style bolt action hands down. Long range shooting is my current passion.

I like all types of rifles and history but they just don't grab me like a bolt gun.

I would like to know more about your firearms collecting courses though. Is this a history class or a course to teach people to collect? I know they are tied together but what is the main goal?
This is exactly where I stand also.

I've been learning and enjoying the AR platform more though.

Toss up between these two. One is a surgeon 591 the other a defiance deviant. Both have 223 and 308 bolts and various barrels. Also have a fondness for a late 40's early 50's FN commercial mauser in good ole 30-06 that I inherited from my grandfather.

I love the M14 platform. I own a SOCOM 16 that would be the last firearm I would ever part with.

A neighbor showed me his HK91 and P7 in the early 80’s. It took me a few years, but this was pre ban and I bought a HK91A3 for $600.00 new.
That started me down the path... Then came Die Hard, and the MP-5. I could never afford a real one, but rented and shot one. Wow! I didn’t think was anything more perfect
Eventually I bought a clone, a true SBR and a legal suppressor. There is nothing I enjoy shooting more. I am no John McClain, but I do enjoy shooting targets. Anyone who has shot it has always ended up with a grin, that belt sander couldn’t remove...

Hands down my favorite is this Marlin 30-30 that my dad left me.

He bought it in 1972 as a work carbine with more punch than the M-2 he was issued when with the Alabama Highway Patrol.

I have taken deer with it every year since he passed.

The incredible shrinking man. You lost a ton of weight dude. Looking good.

Still the regiment you discussed in the weight loss thread?

My favorite rifle is the one my dad and I shared. A Remington 700 BDL 30-06. Its the nice gloss wood with the black band on the end of the stock. We bought it used in around 1984. I couldn't afford one at the time, so I traded my 20 gauge and my dad covered the difference of about $120.

It kicked like a mule. But a buddy told me about work he had done to his. I had a 3lb trigger installed, floated and bedded, and a muzzle break milled into the barrel. It took about 30% of the recoil away. I have since replaced the Redfield scope with a Nikon Monarch OA scope.

I've since shot many deer with it. About 10 years ago Beretta came out with a rifle line, and I was tempted. But I talked myself out of it. I felt like I would be cheating on the Remington if I bought another 30-06.

Since my dad died, it holds even more value to me. My son shot his first buck with it, and will someday own it. I've killed lots of animals from whitetail to axis to mulies. Its like an old pair of boots. I when I put it to my shoulder, I know what I am about to get.
