    Gunz are icky.
I just want to know what the error in judgement was. The guy is an error of judgement and should be strung up.

Drinking on the clock? Drinking while on a stakeout where his services could be the difference between life or death at any moment? Drinking while armed? Drinking while on prescription medication? Drinking while in control of a vehicle?

This is a blatant abuse of the police taking care of their own.

    NO. WAY.

Only the police should have (machine) guns.
NOT ...... unless they give you booze with it. How about mandatory jail time with no paroll, loss of drivers license and fired from job and no recomendation for future LEO jobs.

The guy should be chitcanned. But you'll are so compassionless. Alcoholics have a disease.

Every profession drinks and drives. So many see it as a victimless crime and lawyers have made dwi cottage industry. No one gives 2 chits about MADD. My dad never told me about his DWI but it costs him a lot of money. Our Chief Prosecutor over Narcotics got arrested for it and one of my prosecutors got arrested for it after I had left. I answered a call and found a local police chief passed out in the bed of his PU at a movie theater parking lot. We called his wife to come get him and she was none too happy.

It is what it is. SMG or his duty pistol is irrelevant if you drive a 2 ton vehicle intoxicated.

    From the story...
"Gardner said Marche was on prescription medication for two shoulder surgeries, and drank a limited amount of alcohol, misjudging the effect the combination would have on his faculties."

So, what amount of alcohol is deemed acceptable during a stakeout?

Excuse sounds weak to me unless corroborated by Dr. Also, valid question as to allowed amount of alcohol. Probably depends on circumstances. I can see where an undercover might need to have a beer or 2 if shadowing a subject in a bar, or some such thing.

I swear the last vicadin scripted to me for my tooth surgery said... DO NOT OPERATE HEAVY MACHINERY OR MIX WITH ALCOHOL...not sure what pain meds he had but I'm sure the same text was on the bottle.

Cops who need to drink a beer to fit in during a stakeout are not wearing a police uniform.

To be fair, he was "plain clothes", was he not?

Looked like he had a uniform on, but I could be wrong.

Either way, Joe needs help. Maybe this will be the thing to get him sober.

It seemed as though the arresting officers would have known that he was a cop if he was in a "uniform". It seemed to me as though it took them a few minutes before they realized he was.
    I could be wrong obviously.

Yep, looked like a uniform, but didn't see any patches.

And I realize Austinn4 didn't say he was on a stakeout, I was just stating the obvious. He was drunk ass sleeping at the wheel, so obviously not on a stake out.

Remember when they ran the plate nothing came up. Also once they gained entrance they started asking who he worked for.

That was after they broke the windows.
I would think that if he was in uniform they could have told while looking through the windows.
I thought they were asking who he worked for after he was in back of his car in cuffs.

I'm working off memory from my original viewing of the video, so keep that in mind, lol.
