I just don't understand the fascination with 22 Mag or any 17 for poking holes in paper when 22 LR is abt .04/rnd vs .14/rnd for 22 Mag, and .20/rnd for 17HMR. If you are working on skill set and practice any will do unless you are going to 300+ yds and the the 5.56 is only slightly higher than the 17HMR.

All good point. I’m trying to be very deliberate in my thought process here.

They work very well on the dreaded, ferocious rabbits and the 17WSM works very well on coyotes out to 300yards, it's a very fast, flat shooting round.

We have a Savage mkII heavy barrel with peep sights shoots very well though the stock could be improved, the Savage B-22 looks like it has a better stock (and magazine).

It better be @5x the price of LR. For production ammo, it’s going to have to be a very, very consistent ammunition to be competitive with the high end match stuff for LR.

For the same cpr, guys have shot .93” groups at 200yds with Eley.

The BR LR guys are shooting .06” or better center to center.
I run Eley Target in my MK2 when I'm serious. Very good stuff.
