Didn’t get out this weekend. Hopefully soon. I got a couple 45-70 rifles bookmarked I’d like to get priced out. Definitely in the mood to think about an engraving or custom scabbard. I lost my uncle this month. (He’s not blood. It’s a strange story. My moms family is bat shit crazy and after my aunt divorced him it pissed people off to no end my father and I kept him as our friend and part of our family.)

Seems like the lore of people going in threes is legit. My dog, wife’s grandpa, now my uncle. Stupid.

What I’m thinking is a stock engraving. Got an extended family member who engraves stocks. Can take a picture and put it on wood. I don’t know how it works.

I had a thread about it. A friend is a friend. four legs or two. One engraving I’m thinking is of mnt Jefferson in Oregon and him. We spent a lot of time in that national forest and camping there you would get a beautiful shot of Jefferson.

I’m still figuring out what I will do for my uncle Kenny. We did a lot of fishing and I’m thinking a sheath.

Kudos to you for keeping him included. Been married 36 years, and sometimes I think I am closer to my wife's family than my own. It would hurt to lose them if I got divorced. (not that it will ever happen)

I was furious. My moms side of the family has zero intent to have anything. My mom got a text he passed and the entire attitude of everyone was to continue to bad mouth him. I spoke up and said you selfish pricks, he’s dead, you can’t leave it alone can you?

You see my aunt never won me over. They tried but heck even at a young age I knew hey, you all never took me fishing. He spent time with me. Along with my dad taught me how to be a man. Y’all can get f...well you know.

It's interesting how non-family can be closer than family. The real, original Ben English is buried in the family plot back in Alabama. He was the paramour of my maternal grandmother. He was also far better to her and her kids than her legal husband.

My heart goes out to you in this time of loss.
