On YouTube, he disabled comments. I was going to ask him to explain the political contributions ($$) made in the name of the company to Democrat candidates who are clearly advocating for gun control. Methinks he ain’t being completely truthful when it comes to him saying they support 2A.

It's a shortsighted a**hat who can't see what liberals have done to the knife trade in Europe, after getting rid of citizen's guns.

That video solidified his opinion 100% for me. He's only worried and scared that his business is about to fall apart, but not at all worried about abandoning 2A principles. He spent more time talking about working with his elected officials and his own circle's values than he spent talking about the values of those of us who (used to) spend our money on their product.

Thus, my funds will go elsewhere. Best of luck to you, Mr. De Asis.

At least he was honest in the beginning of the video. Said it was in response to posts online. You know, the ones that are killing his business.

Perhaps he should ask some of those politicians he donates all that money to for some pointers on how to lie convincingly on the camera. He obviously needs more practice at it.

I look forward to the demise of BM. I believe the Bowel Movement will happen soon.

Several companies do this and you guys support them. We know for a fact several gun companies have done this and ya'll keep buying them. Springfield and Rock River arms for one... Many of these companies continue to operate and support economies of VERY anti-gun states like Smith and Wesson in Massachusetts.

It’s just like a Liberal to bring a knife to a gunfight...

There's been another update from The Gun Collective. (If anybody doesn't want to bother looking up the video, reply to this post and I can embed it.) The Benchmade guy who recorded their response video was interviewed off-camera and a summary presented. My basic take-away was that he justified giving money to anti-gun folks because
    1. Given his location, they were the only people he could give money to for the purpose of impacting knife legislation, and
    2. They were willing to help with legislation that de-criminalized carrying a knife.
He didn't like the fact that sometimes the people who will stand up for knife rights won't stand up for 2A rights...but his business is knives, not guns. (That's my paraphrase; if you don't want to trust it, watch the TGC video for yourself.)

While I wouldn't like it I could find his position understandable if I could also find some corroboration. Thus, I sought out any statements made by the knife rights lobby. If anybody could help Benchmade justify this line of thought, it would be them.

I know of two major knife rights organizations.
    1. The Knife Rights Foundation news feed page has nothing on it about this subject. Also, the founder and head honcho, Doug Ritter, has nothing on his web page. Knife Rights did give Benchmade an award in 2013 for giving money to the Sharper Future Legal Fund, so Benchmade does have a track record of giving money to secure knife rights.
    2. It's the same story with the web pages of the American Knife and Tool Institute. Their news page has nothing about this.
I find the silence of those web pages puzzling. It seems like in their myopic focus on knife rights, they're just not bothering to take much notice of the 2A-supporter backlash.

I'm not sure if all this can or should change anyone's opinion of the way this has played out but I thought I'd offer a few more data points.

    PS - About this:
    On YouTube, he disabled comments.
...The Gun Collective reports that comments were turned back on when, apparently, the company realized that turning them off looked bad. As of the time of this post, the comments are enabled.

SA and RRA both funded IFMA, who went rouge unbeknowst to them, and started funding those anti gun politicians and supported that antigun bill because it (IFMA) was going to be exempt as a result. When it was discovered that they were doing this, SA and RRA cut all ties with IFMA immediately, apologized, and successfully joined the fight against the bill and won.

Both companies have a strong history of supporting the 2nd Amendment, and both made true efforts to rectify the damage IFMA had done. That is forgivable.

As for being set up in an antigun state, many of these companies have been set up where they are for decades if not over a century. They have skilled employees, and a system in place for getting supplies in and guns out. They lose that if they leave, and there are less companies with the funds to fight anti gun bills in the state as well.

Benchmade WILLINGLY AND PURPOSELY supported anti gun Democrats, and has made no apologies, weak or otherwise. They only made a really shitty attempt at an apology for helping to destroy guns. That is not forgivable.
