    Out here by the lake!
What's burning? I don't miss Stinkagetdowndena. When I was liven there one of the plants blew up. I was nailing the wife when it happened. Later her mom called and ask if we felt it? Her mom told the wife I was rude!

I was there when it went off.

Also grew up in Houston and spent my initial married years in the LaPorte, Deer Park, ***dena area. Also worked at Timmers Chevrolet for a few years.

All that to say, its a pretty normal thing every few years.

When something like that pops off it look just like the pic....thick black billowing smoke, and you know its bad from the get go.

My understanding that a tank went off, then progressed to others (shouldnt have, but did) and several more were now burning. Im gonna go with Craig's 8 number.

....and all this popped off bout Saturday noontime.

Most of what’s burning are gasoline blending components, currently 8 tanks in total. I’m honestly thankful that it’s not worse, there are some NASTY chemicals stored along the channel. Having spent my entire professional career in some form of the petrochemical industry, I’m genuinely happy that this is not a more regular occurrence at these facilities, no matter their location in the globe. I’ve been involved in a few fires (one as a first responder and one while scrambling for safety), a major H2S release that I thought was going to be my demise, and I’ll never forget the sounds of a dying man when I worked offshore. We’re not making ice cream out here. I’ve read tons of comments on the subject in the past 30 hours, and while I can appreciate almost all of them from all sides, I genuinely wish opponents of this industry we’re forced to live without our products. If you don’t like oil and gas, find a way to live without what we produce...

Hey, it's easy. AOC has it all figured out. Haven't you heard?

Yeah this one’s bad. Had burned a total of 8 storage tanks. 5 are still reported burning, 3 have burned out already & 2 more empty ones collapsed. Their are several more in close proximity that are at risk of ignition. I don’t know how many injured or killed?

No injuries reportedly, amazingly. I’ve seen a few pics from one of the fire crews on site, and I like to take a moment to recognize the type of person it takes to stand in almost knee deep water and man a fire nozzle between those burning tanks...having been through industrial fire school I can tell you that’s a genuine bad MF’er. The remaining tanks that aren’t on fire contain pygas, toluene, and base oil.
