What a lame fucking response. Care to quote whatever law you think is correct?

He knows you are correct. He cant admit it, so he changes his position from it is illegal, to it is not practical, implying something bad will happen, which in turn implies cops will behave badly when encountering a citizen who is breaking no laws.

    So...back to the mugshot
Do you guys (not asking for your input Bigwheel) think that she got arrested for not IDing in relation to her parole somehow and that's the basis for the charge/arrest?

    That was Mao.

Damn.....and all this time I thought it was Eric Swalwell's (D-CA) idea after proposing that private gun ownership rights should be revoked and ownership become a felony. Guess he's piggy-backing on the Chairman :).

That did not prove who you were. That just proved you knew a name and a DOB. You could have given him a fake name and DOB, and he would not have been able to tell the difference. Illegal aliens do this with regularity.
When the officer asked me for my name and DOB he entered that info into his onboard computer. A few seconds later my Photo popped up on his screen. That was enough proof for him to know who he was talking to. I guess agency's without sophisticated technology in their patrol cars could get snookered in an ID check.

Nothing to do with it. That was my point for those who were trying to link the two at the start of this nutty conversation.

Terry stops/frisks apply to pat downs and searches for weapons in the lunge area of conveyances. Nothing to do with failing to identify. Y’all should quit watching CNN so much.

Wrong again. The stop and the frisk are two separate events and require different justifications.

And it is relevant to failure to ID. In contrast to the wrong information you posted earlier, in Texas failure to ID laws only apply to persons once detained or arrested. If detained you don't have to ID but it is a crime to lie, and if arrested you are required to identify yourself

Well filled out a lot of Field Interogation Contact cards over the years. Commonly used to establish the identity of hairballs who look like potential alleged perps but not currently doing any crimes. Never had one refuse to cough up the info but suspect it would not go well for that person. Can’t believe our old law breaker chief insist we break the rules like that. He could have used your advice.

Back in "the day" people weren't as informed/aware of their Rights as we are now.........

that....and some local LEO's did what ever they thought they could get away with....which was actually quite a lot......not so much anymore........

I have mixed thoughts regarding compulsory ID-ing.

We don't live in WW11 Germany where the 'authorities' can demand your papers.

Example: I'm walking down the street and have broken no laws.

If I'm demanded to identify myself on the whim of L.E., I don't have to.

On the other hand, I'm sure a lot of folks who have warrants on them and are demanded to I.D. themselves and when they do, bang off to jail they go.

But, on the whole, this I 'must ID' myself when I've committed no crime pisses me off.........because some LE type demands I do so, just because he doesn't like the cut of my jib......so to speak.

And they can't simply enter my home without my permission either, just because they're L.E.

If they cook up some baloney to qualify stopping me and demanding I.D. or enter my home without my permission on some cooked excuse, I have the resources (lawyers) to legally defend myself against such heavy handed, over the top L.E. weight throwing around.

I'm 'pro-L.E.' but not when bogus excuses are used against law abiding citizens.

And today they are "ill informed" from the idiot box and internet. Which is worse?

Hear you on that. Seems like we have a much higher per capital ratio of jailhouse lawyers these days. They seem to be able to snag nonexistent civil rights out of thin air
