Was almost giddy when I found this, in like-new condition, on a used gun rack.

    Belgian Browning.
The caliber my dad taught me to shoot with. Uncommon in this rifle, I've read.
270win. A classic American game round. Thank you Jack O'conner.
1958. First year production. Low serial #.
    Safari Grade, in Browningian parlance.

I hope I look as un-abused, chipper, perky and radiant when I am 61, as does this piece of European art.
As close to 100% as an old classic could hope to be.

Inconsequential flaw: The 8 scope ring screws are a bit bunged up. Cake-walk to turn those to freshen up.

I purchased a Magneto Speed Sporter that a guy had never used because he purchased a LabRadar velocity meter. I also purchased a BCM AR15 & Charging Handle upper to finish my .25-45 AR15. I also purchased a Dark Earth Durakote or Ceracote coated Winchester 1300 a law enforcement officer traded in. I purchased a Houge overmolded Black stock for it with a 12" LOP. The stock is functional but has seen some wear & tear. A bolt cover for the 1300 going to have it coated in a matte black.

Man, that is some gorgeous wood. Wow, what a great find!

Older Belgian Brownings typify the "Don't build 'em like they used to" mantra.

Thanks. I have modern black guns, threaded barrels, semi autos etc.
I did not have just a classic bolt action hunting rifle that would have been in the field when I was born. This is it.
I pulled the wood off of it last night and it is pristine in and out. The trigger has a tiny creep and breaks at 3lb 12 oz which is fine for a hunting rifle.

Now I just need to find a vintage scope.
What would fit it well? Something as simple as on old fixed 4x or 6x Redfield???

Nothing special, but picked up another plain Jane Beretta 96 this week.

Either it's nostalgia or hoarding, probably a bit of both, but I seem to be buying guns I already have lately.

Got an Academy gift card recently, bought a 33 round Glock mag with it. Been wanting a higher cap Mag for range time.
