As a part of my current job I visit about 20 convenience stores in a day. I was talking to the owner of one of these stores today and the topic of guns came up. She says she has a pistol in her purse that she carries with her everywhere she goes. She hands it (Taurus G2C) to me and asks if it's any good. First thing I do is drop the mag and make sure the chamber is clear. She's carrying 6 steel cased 9mm rounds in the 12 round magazine with an empty chamber.
So that got me wondering what everyone else tends to carry, and rely on in their carry/bedside/truck gun. I'm not looking for the, "I cArRy bOoLiTs" response. What brand, weight, pressure, etc? If you have a specific reason for your preference, I'd love to know.
I'll start:
.380: Hornady XTP 90gr.
9mm: 124gr Federal HST standard pressure in all my carry guns with short barrels. Hornady critical duty 135gr +P in my 4.5+" pistols.
45: Golden Saber 185gr. Standard pressure.
I put a lot of research in when I buy an ammo that I may have to rely on in a bad situation. I think I may be in the minority though, as I have seen steel case or any other super cheap FMJ on more than one occasion.
