I just bought a J frame since they're on sale at academy at the moment. I thought I looked the revolver over but I apparently missed a small imperfection. I think my excitement got the best of me. Since I'm fairly new to the revolver world I have no idea if I should worry or not. What do you guys think?

The new J frames are engineered to be easy to make by CNC machines. Not hand fitted anymore. I doubt you have a problem. If they would move out of anti-gun land they might find some workers under then age of 110.

Yeah.....that looks like a dangerous defect. Fortunately for you, I'm a S&W Licensed Dangerous Firearm Disposal Specialist. I can come pick that up for you and see that it gets into the proper hands for study and testing. I'll even give you a special code upon receipt to contact S&W for a replacement. What time shall I come pick it up?

I also provide function assessments and inspections for any Ruger revolvers as well as CZ and Beretta autos.....
