I'll admit, I've only into the pistol game for a short while. What pistol connected with you? A 1911 A1 Springfield and a Ruger 22/45 put me over the top. My skills are marginal, but a S&W 29 ... Oooh baby. It just fits. Yours is.....

Pistols that uncle sugar fed were my favorites at the time.

    I’m a pistol polygamist; Colt Woodsman, Ruger SP101, 92FS, P30/P30SK, and USP.

If I had to choose one, it would be the P30SK. Tack driver.

From a pure shooting perspective, a WC XC9.

    Aesthetically, a DW Valor Limited:

    My friend’s STI/Bar-Sto 2011 race gun.
That gun made my groupings look good.

I bought a well used and abused Sig P226 for cheap and it's a great shooter. I do really good with it.

My other favorite is my S&W 28-2 with a 6" barrel. It's super accurate and tames the 357mag really good.

For pure fitment of hand the Glock 21 gen 3 (full size, not SF) is perfect. The size and shape were made for my hand.

For recoil and the perfect amount of push the S&W PC 44 Mag was the one. Full power 240gr rounds were the perfect balance of knowing you are dealing with power but just below the line of stinging the hand.

I have been needing to replace that one.

You asked for "the one", and listed three.
Literalist. I'm finding the responses interesting though. I've had guns I shoot well, and didn't particularly like. I've also had guns that on the surface seem to fit well, were comfortable to shoot, but we're a struggle to shoot accurately. I just was interested to see what people just pulled from the box and it just felt right and worked perfectly.

For various interpretations of "The One" as applied to handguns, I could give several different answers. However...
I just was interested to see what people just pulled from the box and it just felt right and worked perfectly.
...when you clarify your criteria like that, my answer is easy - my Wichita in .308 Win.

Beretta PX4 Storm compact 9mm. Picked it up in a trade, but wasn't really looking for it. It was just a good deal for me for something I no longer wanted. Turned out to be my favorite pistol.
