1.
Browning Belgian takedown SA-22 my dad bought in Fredericksburg in about 1970 for $99.
Many tens of thousands of rounds through it. At $5 brick every weekend for years on end.
I still have it. Have the original box.
Favorite scar in it is the deep gouge in the stock from where I ran over it with the jeep in about 1978 as a 13 year old.
2.
Beretta 70s 22lr
First gun I bought as an adult in about 1984 at Houston Carters Country on I-10 when I was in grad school.
The $147 was a gargantuan investment. Taught my wife to shoot it while we were dating.
Well used. Well loved. In the original box in the safe 50 feet to my right at the moment.
Rimfire is my first love.
Today I can buy pretty much what I want but the big bore stuff pales in comparison to a simple rimfire.
My current lust is over a Volquartsen rimfire.
Mine was pretty old already when I got it from Grandpa circa 1959 or 1960. Made between 1919 and 1939. Haven't shot it since 1980, but it was still very accurate.
in the UK even (1970)- High Standard Supermatic Citation with all the bells & whistles...…….it didn't help my bullseye shooting so I traded it for a S&W Model 17(?) 4" also .22lr...….which was more fun!
My first .22 was a Ruger 10/22. I sold it to a buddy when he won a .22 suppressor & didn't have a gun for it. I don't miss or regret selling it, as I figured I had way cooler .22's.
My first and only rimfire so far is a Walther P22. Love shooting it, but it only shoots Remington golden bullet. Fine ammo for making the plate go ding ding all day. Planning on remedying the lack of rimfire options in the house soon
Glenfield bolt action purchased in 1975 I still have it. I have lots and lots of .22LR pistols and rifles. Just a few of mine. I am addicted to .22LR and the 10-22.
Classic Jonathan Browning at his best.
Bought in 1970 from a little shop by my dad in Fredericksberg.
Shot a brick every weekend. $4.99 at the Mobile station in Harper.
Don't know how many tens of thousands of rounds it's had through it.
In about 1973-4 our dad let us shoot his Ruger 10/22 which was collectively ours...we refinished it and did a great job for a 7 and 12 yr old couple of boys. My 1st given to me solely was a savage model 24 with 22lr over 20ga in 1978 for my 12th. Still have it of course yet traded the Ruger 22 for a 4bbl carb for my truck back in the 80’s lol.....replaced Ruger with 2 more 10/22’s. 1st 22 rifle I personally bought was a marlin m60 at k-mart in Aberdeen, Md when stationed there for USMC ordnance school...still have all these and some 15+ different 22 rimfire rifles and handguns
