I’m curious about the brass receiver. Or the all weather model. The Henry website doesn’t list it though.
On the .22 mag version they call it "BRASSLITE" receiver, with a Brass buttplate.
I'm pretty sure the receiver has some sort of plating on it.
The Side Gates have a hardened brass receiver.
They dont have the info like on the other models for the 45/70. I would think if the Side gates are hardened Brass the then the 45/70 would be as well.

I’m not worried about the brass model not being strong. Barrel extension like on a blr I assume?

I had a 44 mag marlin and that didn’t last long. Total pile. My concern with the new production marlins are heavy trigger and Poor quality. I’m still thinking of doing it but if the price difference between a marlin and Henry isn’t much I’m leaning towards a Henry.

Henry is a fine gun. Marlin has gotten past all their "issues" as far as I can tell. I have guns on both sides of that time frame. No probs at all. I sold my Guide Gun and bought the Trapper for the shorter barrel. I do not like the Henry because of the tube magazine loading issues. Just my preference. I like the side feed. Henry has come out with a side feed I hear but I do not know on which models. Either way the 45-70 is a great round. LOVE shooting hogs with it. Puts 'em down every time.

ALSO you can get a big loop for most lever guns. Wild West has 'em for the Marlins I know. Found a couple guys that make 'em from your own lever.
