A buddy sent me that earlier. Is that legit or a comical/parody review?

It's legit. It's from Dec of 17 and the guy posted all over Facebook from the hospital and after.

Some more info from a fart 15 dot com thread. It's also in a dozen other places online if you are bored.

ETA. IF A LOWER LEG WOUND IS ALMOST FATAL THEN YOU ARE SERIOUSLY LACKING IN BASIC FIRST AID SKILLS. ONE WORD FOR YOU..TOURNIQUET.

I SUGGEST A FIRST AID BASIC LIFE SUPPORT CLASS BEFORE YOU TOUCH SO MUCH AS A BUTTER KNIFE MUCH LESS A GUN.

A round that can’t fully penetrate the lower leg is a shit round for self defense.

Re modern ammunition, There is a difference in "Duty" ammo and "defense" ammo.

Defense ammo is specifically designed to rapidly deform open up or yaw very quickly after entering the hydrodynamic environment of the body We are 50 to 70 percent water, depending on age and specific body part/system, suspended in tissues like skin fat muscle organs etc.

Duty ammo is specifically designed to penetrate a specific distance after going thru barriers, that is following FBI protocols.

The ammo in question is a frangible round meant to quickly come apart and transfer its energy quickly and create multiple wound channels and bleeding. It would have failed if it did pass thru the lower leg.

You got your definition. That is the difference in design of the rounds type of projos and powders.

Marketing has nothing to do with it. Modern ammo marked duty is designed to pass the FBI protocols for penetration depth and penetration of barriers without coming apart too soon.

Modern ammo labeled defense is designed to sometimes perform better in shorter barrel lengths but always to quickly expand yaw or in the case of frangible ammo come apart quickly thus transferring as much energy as possible.

You may think the names are marketing ploys but the designation of defense versus duty is a design description, irregardless of how they wrap it up or put a bow on it.

    Marketing terms or names,
Example critical defense or critical duty. Guard dog, barrier blind extreme energy transfer etc.

    Bull.

Frangible ammo has always been crap for self defense use.
