I have shut off the money to the NRA until Wayne is gone along with some of the board members. When I get an NRA paid postage envelope back I am going to put a letter in there explaining when the drama makers are gone the money will start back up.

The longer the board members do nothing the longer it will take the organization to heal and recover from this going into the public eye and governmental investigations.

This should have been dealt with internally. Digging their heals in is pure stupidity. Now they have to pull a baby calf out of the tar pit with one rope without a horse.

Meanwhile, what I am asking for here is for the TGT owners to give us a separate TGT forum to discuss this NRA / LaPierre issue.
I'll send it up through channels but you should know that us mods are, for this sort of request, powerless. Also, the owners of TGT, AFAIK, would never see your request posted here.

The proper way to ask for this (the way to speak directly to the right folks) is to hit the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of every page, assuming you're using the web interface. Even though I'm helping send up your request, I strongly suggest you do that, too.

How do you deal with something internally when a significant portion of the leadership is part of the problem? This all came to light because they chose to ignore a member's attempt to rectify this issue internally. They never had any intention of dealing with the issue.

Our ONLY power under the "Nominating Committee" regime is to withhold all donations, bequests, renewals, etc, until LaPierre is GONE.

Perhaps, after 50 years NRA, I'll have to go GOA, too.

    Sad !

Ha! I've only got 47 years with them.

Especially when the membership is told to basically shutup and write a check.

So, maybe approach it from the bottom? I believe that each state has NRA representatives; maybe some of you know them? What if a few members said "we'd like to hold a little town hall and give you some of our concerns on where this ship is headed. We'd like you to pass it up the chain." Maybe they can ask their counterparts in other states to do the same? The BoD must be able to dictate who's at the top. Maybe they are a big part of the problem; I honestly don't know. But if nothing else, maybe get the dialogue going. It could be a start. If they WON'T do it, then you start trying to get them replaced.

Actually, no. That's a big part of the problem. The Board elections are badly rigged, stripping the board of any practical power.

Note that pretty much everything the Board does at the annual meeting is "by acclamation". In many if not all cases, that just means that the people who tried to do the right thing were shouted down or ignored.

A lot of good people would have to be consistently elected to the Board for a decade for this to change. The way nominations for board positions are made, that can't happen. Whoever is in Wayne's job gets to call the shots and the board is structurally divided so as to make opposing him a practical impossibility.

Kind of like British colonies in Africa and the Middle East.

Those neat, straight lines didn’t come from terrain, that’s for sure.

Actions speak louder than words. The NRA has just become a bunch of words. GOA is doing the action. I jointed GOA this year because of all the NRA mess. Jumped straight to life member. No point in wasting time supporting the right folks once you figure out who the right folks are in my mind.

No clue who they are. The main job of field representatives is coordinating fundraising.

Looks like they are missing representatives for east Texas, central Texas, west Texas and the panhandle...
