No F-14s actually fly, so any F-14 flying scenes are CGI. The one in the movie was seen on the Roosevelt trapped in crash net.

Looks like lots of the original are going to be remade - motorcycle adjacent to runway, volleyball, Loving Feeling, etc.

More interesting is why those scenes in a pressure suit?

In regards to the 14, perhaps they borrowed one from Iran.;)

More likely previous footage. I also read that Kenny Loggins is redoing Danger Zone for this movie. I recognized some music from the first movie as well

Apparantly "Iceman" is an instructor as well, and Val Kilmer reprises that role

Yeah, the only Tomcats flying are in Iran (Two have recently been photographed in the air together. It may be the entirety of Iran's flyable fleet at this point. Still impressive, considering they haven't been able to get spare parts for them since 1979.) - they pulled an airframe out of a museum (for a substantial donation and some free upkeep, I'm sure) to stage the carrier scenes like the crash barrier. All flying scenes with the F-14 will be CGI. I understand a majority of the other flying scenes will be the real thing - and this time they can put the actors in the back seat of an F-18F, while filming exterior flying scenes with F-18E's, and we'll have a convincing illusion of the actors flying single-seat fighter/bombers.

I'm glad they point out the ridiculousness of Pete Mitchell being a captain at 57 years old. Annoying that Ed Harris' character states that he should be "at least a two star admiral by now"...while the nearly 70 year old Harris has two stars on his collar. Also, good Lord Ed Harris is looking his age these days.

I'm frankly hoping whatever admiral Maverick winds up reporting to isn't the character Ed Harris plays. I'm hoping and praying Maverick has to salute Admiral Kazansky, callsign "Iceman". That, or maybe there's direct involvement in this mission by...President Kazansky... LOL

    Always liked Iceman better.

Val K. has gone the Brando way of avoirdupois...
but who knows, LAV lost a ton of weight, so maybe Val can too.
He's been fighting throat cancer for a while now.

Yeah heard same about VK, and Danger Zone. McGillis is a nogo - google to see why.

One plot theory I heard was cyber attack wipes out computers in most modern aircraft. So they pull an old F-14 out of mothballs and of course there is only one dinasour around who can fly. He saves the day but is tailhook gear is destroyed and he crashes into the net.

My gut feeling is that it will be a classic movie recycled in to garbage with hopes it well make money because everybody ‘members TopGun.

That seems to be the Hollywood blueprint lately.

Haven’t liked much of anything Tom Cruise has done for a long time.

I just think it's funny that a 5'6" ish actor plays a 6'4" 240 lb guy in the Jack Reacher movies. Kind takes away from it if you've read the books.
6’5” ;) Big fan of the Jack Reacher series here( read all of them) but in TCs defense, he played the character well, just have to suspend the whole giving up a foot of height and 100 lbs thing.
Personally, I think Dwayne Johnson would play the part pretty good
