So I’ve got a cell # that I’ve tracked back to Verizon. I want to identify the owner in order to deliver a cease & desist.

Spokeo returns names that are improbable as the sender of the text message knows me by name.

I’ll get LE involved and go the TRO route if necessary.

Obviously no answer required, but are you receiving constant threatening calls and/or texts?

No. Someone has contacted my wife, pronouncing their feelings. They’ve specifically stated to her there would be no need for me (by name) to know.

The sender has mentioned enough things about their ‘real life’ interactions that it is most likely someone who she routinely interacts with professionally.

The sender has been made aware that I know of these messages and they’ve been told to cease and desist, with their response being “It’s not like I’m a stalker”.

Scary. That's exactly what a stalker does. I would make a report to the local policing agency. I'm not sure they would do anything without there being a threat, but texting the case number to the stalker might get their attention.

That’s already on the list of things to do.

The problem with phone numbers alone are that they are easily spoofed or generally useless in determining who actually owns it if the person is smart enough to use a service that provides them with a different number then their actual number supplied by their carrier e.g. Google Voice. Numbers from such services get recycled over and over and the results tend to come back with many unrelated leads, if anything at all.
If that is the case, even paying for a service is no guarantee.
I would think the best thing you can do is file a report with local LE. It's probably not going to trigger an investigation at this point but perhaps if the caller escalates LE can then use the certain databases available to them to see what comes up.

For now, if it's even possible, ask your wife to make a list of possible suspects. You might be able to connect the phone number to a name online. Again, no guarantee but it might help in the mean time.

Pretty sure it’s a burner anyways, but we’re doing some simple ‘self-help’ forensics up front to see how stupid the sender is.

When we get home later today we will be filing a report with Bexar County Sheriff.

If it escalates, we will deal with that then.

I'm not a stalker but even though the lady/wife has told me a million times I'm still calling. I would be worried about it too. Have you contacted the Police?
