Dontcha’ just love the feeling that every time you pull the trigger on someone else’s dinosaur rifle it is like spending $25 per shot that you didn’t have to pay for? ;)
One year for my hunting buddies birthday I bought a set of RCBS dies for his .500 N.E.. They were crazy priced as I remember it. They might have been custom ordered.

After dumping a few powder charges the volume of powder alone was crazy, not to mention the price of the Barnes bullet. nd this was a huge savingover the Wolfgang Romey or Kynock ammo the gun was regulated too.

When he handed over the set of dies to the P.H. that we represented in Africa I felt kind of pissed.

Yeah, I would feel that is kind of a dick move as well.

Without a doubt, a Doubletap in .45 ACP. Very painful in the web of the hand. This is a borrowed picture, mine wasn't ported!

When those were first announced, I promised TGT (in a thread that no longer exists) that I would buy one and write a range report. When I finally held one at an NRA Annual Meeting it was immediately obvious to me that they weren't designed for human hands. I declined to buy one.

Now, here's what gets me. They made at least one single-barrel version of that pistol in 7.62x39 that they showed at industry events. Did that variant ever make it into distribution? If it did, who in the bloody hell would ever buy one? I'd shoot one, just one shot, if it were offered to me but I can't imagine actually spending the money to buy one.

PS - Serious question - Did you ever try .45 softball (185-grain SWCs with a light load, intended solely for traditional target shooting) in the thing? If I had gotten one, it was my plan to start with the target loads. I was prepared to abort all further testing if the recoil was too unpleasant with the stuff designed purely for punching paper.

Of course not, .230 ball all the way. I've always heard if you're gonna be a bear, be a Grizzly.
The little beast was very well made, the fit, finish, and machine work was top shelf. It was very flat and easy to conceal. It was just violent to shoot.

A local pawn shop had a Heizer, that looked the same as the Doubletap, and it was chambered in .223/5.56. I'd say a 7.62X39 would be right sporty.

Before the Heizer was available I eagerly waited to buy one. I knew a guy that got one of the first ones. His would double on him. He contacted the company and they denied that it could happen and that it was shooter error.

The guy videoed himself shooting it and Slo motion proved that he wasn’t pulling the trigger twice like some guys do on the S&W 500.

Needless to say I got over owning one of those very quickly.

Never shot one I didnt like......my little cousin got his nostril ripped by a Rossi double barrel 20 ga coach gun that belonged to my dad though. We were about 9 or 10.....shooting down by the creek on the family farm in Missouri.....he tucked the butt right under his arm and fired it. Recoiled back and the exposed hammer ripped his nostril apart. Worst thing is he dropped the gun......which my brother now has.

    To All,

NO QUESTION. - The MOST unpleasant firearm that I've ever fired was a about 7.5 pound .416 Rigby Magnum rifle by Parker-Hale on a commercial Mauser action & that I won in a poker game, years ago.

Just 2 shots on a USAF R&G Club range encouraged me to DUMP IT at the next nearby gun-show to a HUGE guy, who may have NOT been bothered by the brutal (at least to me) recoil.
(Another good reason to sell it was that at that time the shells were > 2.50 each.)

    yours, satx
