How come they don't eat soup with chopsticks?

    Riddle me that one.

Plus, unless you're Asian, put down the chopsticks you cultural mis-appropriater, pick up a fork, shut up and eat.

P.S. A non-Asian using chopsticks can't look dorkier, but ever so trendy.......

My wife and I eat out with several other couples regularly, it drives them batshit crazy I use a fork or spoon when we eat Chinese/Japanese/Thai/Vietnamese. Particularly since I’m exceptionally proficient with chopsticks.

One of my buds as a kid was Korean-American, mom Korean. She made some of the best damn food I’d ever eaten including kimchi. Invited to eat dinner with Danny (her son), she turned me to the dark side and fed me like family when saw I liked her cooking. Even showed me how to make kimchi fast using the fridge easy peazy. Still eat it, one of my favorite foods,

I visited her a year ago when I drove through the old neighborhood and stopped to visit. Had a big bowl of kimchi while I was there. She was tickled to death when I told her it was now one of my favorites.

    birddog,

Would you care to share the recipe with this "kimchi deprived" ex-GI??
The Alamo City seems to have NO really good kimchi.
(BIB-IM-BAP is my FAVORITE Korean food. = I could eat it every day, with a big bowl of beef Vietnamese PHO for supper.)

NOTE: When I was stationed in USAREUR, I lived with a CW2's family & the Chief's Korean MIL made FRESH kimchi out of lettuce EVERY DAY for supper.

    yours, satx

There’s a YouTube vid that shows a fridge kimchi recipe that’s similar, minus the squid. I like squid, but not squidy kimchi.

Hold on and Ill see if I can find that vid.....

Edit - I thought two weeks was fast, this recipe is 2-5 days. Same ingredients, difference is fermenting at room temp vs fridge. (I use a fridge, fermentation takes longer... I wouldn’t want to stink up my house and I have 3 extra fridges in the garage). Bet it tastes just as good though :)

The variation of time in preparation is because of fermentation. The longer it ferments, the stronger the taste. Fermenting it at room temp would accelerate the process tremendously and it wouldn’t take long to get away from you and render the batch inedible.

If you like kimchi, it would be worthwhile to experiment with the time of fermentation to discover your taste preference.

And you're telling that to a guy whose lady is SICILIAN & who eats little that's NOT Asian or Italian/Sicilian??
(I'll stick with chopsticks for LONG Asian noodles, thanks.)

    Entertainment? Coming right up.

Starts at the 9:12 mark. Only lasts a second or two, but that’s all you’ll want to watch without getting queasy.

    This has always puzzled me.
How do people afford to live there that aren't wealthy?
Do they just not pay rent?
I'd think rent would be way past $1000+ a month anywhere in one of the So.Cal. cities?
House notes would be 3x that no?
And that is just the housing.
Transportation surely costs more than here.
Taxes are nuts so that has to be paid as well.
Is it that crazy out in the more rural eastern California?
    What about northern Cali.?
I hear that area is practically Night of the Living Dead with all the methbillies?
    Any truth to that?

I was born and raised in a town not all that far from Sacramento. The ONLY thing saving most homeowners in KA is the 1978 Proposition 13, limiting how much the state could charge homeowners in property taxes. If that is ever overturned, it will be the rich vs. the poor. San Francisco is now called "Turd City" due to all the homeless people who live there and poop wherever they wish to do so at all.

Tourism there in SF has gone downhill, particularly since an illegal Mexican got his hands on a handgun from a park ranger's vehicle and shot a young women to death on a pier in SF, with her father watching her die, and was let off by the jury.

Truthfully, many people in KA are conservatives who own firearms, but we have so many gun-laws, it is stupefying, absurd and unlawful under our constitutional rights. That is used as toilet paper by all the demo-RATS, who have a lock on this state. Gov. Gavin Newsom hates guns and gun-owners, just like Ms. Harris does.

The latest was that to buy ammo, you need to register to buy any ammo as of
July 1, 2019. Its a backdoor way of the KA DOJ, firearms division, that was recently occupied by Kamala Harris, who is running for POTUS now, to accumulate a "registration" of firearms owners.

No more ordering any any ammo online, unless it goes through an FLL. Many of us bought tons of ammo for the new "civil war" that is coming to the USA when a d-RAT is elected as POTUS, so we don't care a wit about any of that bull-stuff.

Rent? In my town its $1200 per month for a one bedroom apartment. Gasoline here in one dollar per gallon more then in TX easy too. Yes taxation is high per county. In the coastal regions were many libtards live, sales tax is 9.75 cents per dollar.

As to Northern KA, vs. Southern, KA, Norcal is a much better to live in as long as you don't live near the coastal counties. Thankfully I do not. As you go into the eastern NorCal counties, you will find many people who are not "Blue" at all.

Yes there are places up in the hills where illegal pot is grown, even though its been legalized here, and Meth is made, but when you live here long enough you know where to go or not go, unless you are armed with an M-249 and some body armor.
