If you're on Medicare there should be no out of pocket expense for a flu shot.

But if not, it should cost in the neighborhood of $25/35 - cheaper than a hospital stay....

Hell yes. I had the flu in March and it knocked my dick in the dirt. 3 weeks of miserableness

Doc said a flu shot can reduce symptoms of you get a different strain.

Hadn't had a flu shot for decades, maybe never, but at least since I was a kid 30 plus years ago. Also had never had the flu in my life. Got a physical a couple years ago and at the end, the doc asked if I wanted a flu shot. I asked the doc what she thought and she highly recommended it and it was included in my physical at no extra cost. Okay.....sign me up.

Got the shot and a month or two later also got the miserable fucking flu for the first time ever.

    You know where I stand.

I've not had one in years.
    Ditto that.
Although they supposedly are close to having a "universal" one, so they don't have to guess which strains are going to proliferate. If they do that, I might get back on board. Seems like they "miss the formula" most years...

I'd like to add.... the extreme importance of clean hands and being aware of where you put your fingers is key. I do cleaning before I get home. Clean my hands and phones.

I'm a germ freak though. I almost passed out when I looked out the shower curtain the other night and saw my 2yr old elbow deep in the toilet water.

Every year for free. I usually get one in mid to late September but I was at Walgreens the other day when they mentioned I could get one now. I thought it odd but the next day I read where flu season is supposedly starting early this year in Texas. I'll get one the next time I go in September.

    dsgrey,

    No, you mustn't do that.

Don't you know the medical profession is out to kill you?

Yes, I'm being a tad sarcastic after reading of all the mistrust of so many things medical.

Perhaps, given some folk's mistrust, going to a witch doctor or chanting incantations against bad juju would be more effective for them.

Now, we'll hear about how many and often mistakes are made by the medical field because we expect and deserve perfection in all things medical.

    It's only reasonable.
