Unfortunately I have no idea who did the work. I got it from an aquatience who had it done. It'd been sitting in the back if his safe unshot for years.

the BFR at the top? i got one in 45-70 i had cut down to 5 1/2" and a custom steel front sight made for it. it don't go bang. it goes BOOM

Yes that’s the BFR on top before I started messing with it. I literally flipped a coin to choose between the .500 & .45/70.

Who cut it down for you? I have been wanting a BFR 45-70 but even the 7.5 is too long for what I want.

I'm old. I grew up on revolvers. I do now have, and carry, plastic guns but they are, well, just plastic guns. Give me steel and wood. Many times i like dropping my old Smith & Wesson Model 36 in my pocket and a speed strip on my belt. I do not feel a bit under gunned.

If you're a revolver fan, let's see some of yours.
I'm old too, 75 next birthday. I grew up with revolvers too, I own several semis but I still carry a revolver, a 642. It'll draw from a pants pocket, the only thing I've found that will. I bought an LC9, it works great, shoots good, can't get it out of a pocket if I grab it around the handle. It also works well IWB. If I ever carry in a belt holster it'll be a Lightweight Commander or maybe a S&W 19.

One of my personal long-time favorites is a simple law enforcement trade in S&W M65.

The 629 is not used a lot anymore these days...

...just like the 686. Stainless steel sights have become hard to give a clear sight picture in the last ten years.

But both, 629 & 686 are somewhat more shootable than the 1882/29
