This whole article is total BS. More Democratic Propaganda. They can't dig up any dirt so they are out right lying. The Democrats will do anything to turn your attention away from their criminal acts including starting another VietNam. After 60K young Americans killed, some my friends, will someone please tell me what we gained from Vietnam, because to this day I still don't know? What I do know is I don't want to see Americans die so arms dealers and the Politicians can profit.

I was under the impression that they were moved out in 2016 when Turkey got a little crazy in the head.

Turkey has a nice capital. Sure would be bad if something bad happened to it. Accidents happen.

If there was a crisis there isn't any now. Turkish agrees to ceasefire. The troops are coming home Pelosi loses again. The bi__h is a third fourth and fifth rate politician .

It's not a ceasefire. It's 5 days the Kurds have to leave their homes before the Turks start shooting again. Meanwhile, Russians are occupying our bases that we had soldiers in just the day before. The last time we surrendered a base to the Russians was when we left Vietnam. I'm sure the Turks are taking this break to reload and roll up more guns.

Negative ghost rider. Personally, I’d prefer for our colors to not be there at all. But, how long do we need to play in other people’s wars? We helped them, they helped us. Time to go, been there too long already.

Next places to leave are Yemen, Qatar, Turkey, Iraq, Afghanistan, Dijbouti, Bahrain, et cetera.

It was never about someone else’s war. It was about a damn pipeline that we wanted to build and Syria said we couldn’t run it through their country. Suddenly a regime change was needed.

Thought it was the other way. Russia wanted to build a pipeline and Assad agreed so regime change was needed.

Either way it’s NEVER about something other than some national interest. That interest ain’t there no more apparently, so it’s time to bug out.

I will go back to my original statement. If all the keyboard commandos would take the weekend off and join the Kurds in their righteous fight for freedom, Turkey would be destroyed before happy hour on Monday. Stop trying to send my family to die in some shithole without articulating a solid national security need. Keeping socialist Kurds afloat isn’t a national goal for the USA.

We had a small number of troops - not in combat - whose mere presence was helping stabilize the region. The Kurds brought ISIS under control and were maintaining that control.

Some folks need to be a little more thoughtful and a little less dogmatic.

I never realized we had so many short sighted folks on here. Vietnam was about keeping communism at bay. We lost there because of politicians. If they had left the military alone Vietnam would be a republic today, all of it. As for ISIS we can keep them at bay in the middle east and deny them a base to operate from over there or let them do their thing and then we will have to fight them over here.

If a high muckity muck in Islam would rule the USA and Israel off limits to all muslims then we could pull everyone out and sell them any weapons they (either side, anybody) can afford to buy, including nuclear weapons, to assist in their fights that have been going on for centuries. We can always use more glass and we could pay off our national debt.

EU was hooked on Russian natural gas. The pipeline would have changed that.

At least that’s how I’ve read the situation. See the link in my previous post.

Of course, Assad had to get in the way. And then there was the mysterious gas attack against his own people which was connected to Assad because reasons so we had to support the “Rebels” and oust him.

I never really trusted that he gassed his own people and the attack just happened to play in to the hands of the “rebels”/“freedom fighters”.

We don't need bases or personnel on the ground to control that area/situation......we have the most superior air power the world has ever known.

We need to let that part of the world fight their own wars...not be an occupying police/advisory force. If things get out of hand we can easily take care of it from the air/land or sea within 24 hrs.

Having spent a career in the Air Force, I’ll be the first to tell you air power can’t hold ground. The only way to control land space is with land forces.

Even if air power turns every single square inch of land into pulverized dust, the moment air power is no long present, the land space is open for grabs.

Foreign policy in the Middle East isn’t difficult to understand...for the past 1500 years, mostly nomadic tribes have fought one another over resources, religion, and reputation; about 100 years ago Europeans put lines on a map to represent borders, ensuring those lines captured a significant opposing minority for various political reasons. That’s also about the same time the peoples in that area began the march from pre-industrial societies to post-industrial societies.
