I actually read the book before the movie, and although I LMAO through the entire movie (thankfully drive-in), I was a bit disappointed when they were building the fake town that they didn't have the scene where all races (white, yellow, brown and black hands) were lifting the beams and they didn't have the giant green hand and people ran at the sight of it.

Burton Gilliam is great. He lives in Allen and is the spokesman for a Chrysler/Hyundai chain in north Texas. I've met him at a few events. At 81yo he can still proudly wear his cowboy outfit.
