    Friends,

PLEASE vote FOR Proposition 5 in the election on 02NOV19.

The purpose of this proposition is to FORBID the portion of our current sales taxes that are designated for the TPWD, repair/maintenance of the State Parks & other TX wildlife sites from BEING EXPENDED FOR ANY UNRELATED PURPOSE.

Currently only about 40% of such tax receipts are actually being used for the intended purposes.
(SOME of the things that TPWD funds were spent for last year were: Leasing "take home cars", refurnishing offices, redecorating buildings, repairing city streets & other such "UNFUNDED special projects".)

Note: Despite some of the propaganda that you may have heard, this proposition does NOT raise taxes by even one dime. = The people, who are trying to defeat Proposition 5, simply want to spend funds designated for TPWD & our State Parks for other "worthy" projects.

    gil; All,

MOST of the ANTI-Proposition 5 mailers & comments on social media seem to be coming out of the offices of the GUN HATERS, PETA kooks, leftist DIMocRATS & from the BIG SPENDERS of the Texas version of the "deep state bureaucrats". = One piece of ANTI-5 "junk mail" said that there were "social safety net" NEEDS "for the hungry, homeless & poorest children of Texas" that should take precedence "- - - -- over the hobbies of selfish hunters & fishermen want to spend taxpayers money on."

    To ALL,

PLEASE ASK everyone in your family & friends to VOTE YES on Proposition 5.

This is IMPORTANT if you support TPWD, our STATE PARKS & TX wildlife.

A personal note: IF you have the time to volunteer to do something IMPORTANT for Texas, you might want to look into becoming a TMN.
(This is the most worthwhile volunteer activity that I've yet found. - Understand that the course is 3 months long & NOT easy to complete.)

    BuzzinSATX,

YES, there is a course (Courses are held in numerous locations all over Texas.) & here in SATX it is held one day a week at Phil Hardberger Park for about 3 months. Plus a candidate must additionally do 40 or more hours of field research/volunteer work, as a "Pledge", in a variety of subject areas.

IF you will send me your phone number by PM, I will get an enrolling officer of Alamo Area Chapter to call you & get you set-up for the class & 40 hours of volunteer work.

Note: By the way, Alamo Area Chapter is the originator of the TMN program & our chapter is also the "model program" for the Master Naturalist programs in several other US states & (at this time) 6 other nations. = IF you have the time, it's a VERY worthwhile program to do "good works" in support of TPWD & the natural environment of Texas.

I encourage you to "join the party".

    yours, satx
