I challenged a newspaper editor to stop using these tragedies to promote a gun control agenda and instead investigate root causes. The paper had no interest in doing this. "Maybe a government commission will do it."

To actually come up with solutions to stop these types of shootings would go against their ultimate goal. As sick as it is, the left needs these tragedies to further their agenda to do away with the 2nd Amendment.

I talked to my coworker today that was on the site where the kids and parents were reuniting.

I think I am glad I didn’t get asked to go to help out with the crisis counseling. My coworker said that she consoled one kid who told her (by name) of one of his friends he saw killed; then later she witnessed a lady (maybe the mom) calling and calling out for that named kid, desperately looking for him, when my coworker knew he was deceased and couldn’t say anything.

Other coworkers of ours helped the police make the death notifications.

    Brutal.
I would have liked to “do something” in my area of competency, but maybe someone knew better than me to save me from the toll of that.

I’m currently sleep deprived and emotional for no reason just marinating on what happened. I feel wore out by it and I didn’t even do anything directly.

The feeling of helplessness can be overwhelming in a situation like that.
So very sorry you have to go through it.

I really thank you. I didn’t even go through anything, I and haven’t really done anything. I just get upset thinking and ruminating on it, so I know I kinda do it to myself. Thank you though, I needed that.

If you gave up the guns you could sleep.
The reason I couldn’t sleep was because I got up in the middle of the night to use the restroom (ugh, so annoying!) and figured I should just stay up because I had to leave the house early anyways. (That was a mistake, the staying up.) Maybe I should give up my guns and buy a bedpan.

We at least have imagination. What'd be like in a horror free world. We all have one life point. This is it. These are the cards. It's rough.

Horror free life. What a radical concept.

I saw something pretty interesting last night which could explain much of the problems with society today. Last night I was researching ammo on the computer, and the g/f decided to see what was on regular tv, we usually stream, and she turned on 20/20. Now I'm not a fan of most MSM news shows so at first I was doing my best to ignore it. The show was about the effects of video and social media addiction, which some dispute as not an actual illness. It was about a teen girl who was on her phone (social media), a teen boy who spent most his waking hours playing video games, and a father whom also ignored his family playing video games.

Now what was interesting to me is that the families of these people eventually had to do an intervention and sent them to various places that dealt with these type of things. Before their individual therapy they each had an MRI brain scan, which showed very little brain activity (not much thought). In the case of the teen girl, she had started sending pictures of herself to total strangers, and after a while she started getting negative feedback and even wrote out a suicide note online. The parents didn't know at the time about her sending pictures, but they did find out about the suicide note and then eventually everything else that had been going on.

After the weeks and months of therapy and it was determined that they were well enough to go home they took another MRI brain scan. The scan showed that they now had about 10 times the brain activity as they had before.

The United States is one of the few big countries that doesn't recognize this as a decease.

His lawyer probably told him to tell the shrinks all the right things to get this declaration and keep him off death row.

    IF true...
On the one hand, the lawyer is doing their job but on the other hand, the results are a shooter won't be held fully accountable.

IF he really is mentally incompetent to stand trial, I want mental illness to be looked at. I DO understand that conversation will quickly get into the weeds of who judges mental illness. I can't solve it here.

I want to individual to be held accountable and not the tool.

I honestly don’t see how whether someone is now mentally competent should change anything in the proceedings.

His family can step in to understand the proceedings if he’s too busy playing with his drool. That shouldn’t stop anything.
