9 hours round trip today to take me dad & my family to my dad's family reunion & Thanksgiving. We've been doing this sense I was a kid. Now my dad has mid-stage Alzheimer's & it's very important to him & us to be there. Tonight I held him while he cried when we got home. The roles have reversed.

Clean & sober for 38 plus years.
Everything that I used to be, is gone.
Everything I wanted to be, has come to pass.
Missed the boat on love and family, but had a fantastic life!
Blessed with more possessions than I deserve.
Blessed with home, friends, good health and a great dog!
Had 10 years of wonderful retirement to date.
    More retirement to come..... hopefully.
When I punch the last time card, I'll go with a smile.
    Thank you, God.

2nd grandchild born a week ago today is healthy.
Oh shit, almost forgot my 2 grandchildren. They live in AZ so I've only seen them a couple times so far but they are little still.

That's the only negative thing we have had to deal with since moving to texas 10 years ago.

Thankful for my good health and so far, longevity. As well as my tolerant wife, two beautiful grown daughters, two grandsons, and waking up everyday in decent health. No good reason for having my health at my age, but so far, so good.

Tolerant wife? Check. Before we got married, like 23 years ago, we went to the nascar race on Bristol. A dream trip for me. I bought this huge Rusty Wallace MGD themed Mail box. The guy told me if my wife let's me put that thing up you know she's a keeper. She even helped me mount it.

God damned right shes a keeper.

This trip has been visiting friends and family. We saw my maternal grandfather a few days ago and my paternal grandmother yesterday. Not everyone was able to make it but it was a good time nonetheless. Took a picture of her yesterday with 11 of her great grand children, she is 97 years old.

Good health for me and my family. Profoundly thankful.

    Nothing is important without that.
Not money, not guns, not politics, not cars, not job......nothing.

Had a great day with family and our health yesterday.

Particularly thankful for a pair of gravid daughter-in-laws. Pregnancy is a terribly high-risk endeavor that we take for granted all too often. I'm wishing them well.

I am thankful for my wife of 39 years, my son and daughter 35 and 30 respectively, my son- in-law, the parents I have had and dad 93 I still have. My job of 42 years that I just retired from last Friday and the fact he allowed me to make it to retirement.
Congrats on the retirement! Enjoy the time off you clearly earned through a 42 year commitment!

Do your sons appreciate you equating their wives to horses or fish?

Huh? Horses or fish, in what way?
I'm utterly bemused and stumped by your comment.

Gravid comes from Latin gravis, meaning "heavy." It can refer to a female who is literally pregnant, and it also has the figurative meanings of pregnant: "full" and "meaningful", if that is the portion of my post to which you refer.

Female horses, viviparous fishes and yes indeed humans, upon conception, become gravidas.
