Looking at the new Mark V Backcountry... I cant help myself. However, with a kiddo on the way, I have to sell something to buy the Backcountry.

My question is simple: what Weatherby caliber would you use if you could only have one for the foreseeable future?

I only have one rifle chambered for a Weatherby cartridge. It's a .340, so I guess that's my favorite by default.

If I were a hunter, I'd probably find out what happens when I stuff that case full of Trail Boss and top it with a 160 grain Barnes.

I’m at my blind with it right now.
257 Weatherby. Had a 300 for a short time they are good for elk and moose but absolutely not necessary.

Well I have a .300 and a .257. I have the .300 for Elk. Teh .257 is for maiy for antelope at 300+ yards. For only 1 I would take the .300, it is an excellent elk round. A little much for deer unless you shoot n the head or neck.

I have a custom built .300wby w/ a 26" barrel that started as a plain blued Vanguard. I shoot the Weatherby factory 165gr Nosler ballistic tips. I use it mainly for white tail, which everyone says it's WAY too much gun. However I only take neck shots and it's my gun of choice because it's laser flat to 300 yards.
