Per my edit, "compact" makes it G19 size.
Seems way more than 10 rounds could fit in a mag....

Per their email, it is G19 sized

The GLOCK 44 has a unique hybrid steel-polymer slide and mirrors the iconic GLOCK 19 frame size for optimal performance for new shooters, sport shooters, and everyone in between. “The way the G44 mirrors the iconic G19 is great and all levels of shooters will benefit from owning and practicing with the G44,” said Retired Marine Gunner Christian Wade.

Should have made it G43 sized with a 10rd capacity. I was interested until I read that it is G19 sized. Keltec would have jammed 30rds in a pistol that size. This will likely fail as 10rd .22 pistols are a standard that have been around for decades. Nothing new here. I'll just keep my SR22 for now.

Is it going to cost more or less than a good G19 .22LR conversion kit?

Folks that really believe in conversion kits will be the market for this. I have no idea how large that market is.

My Advantage Arms kit was about $290. It has been flawless. I can also turn my G29 back into a 10mm and my G30 back into a .45.

With an (unconfirmed) MSRP of $400 I think these will hit the market close to $300.

If I carried a G19 I would get the complete "trainer" for a few more dollars as opposed to just the conversion kit.

I also think if these sell well other sizes will be released.

They already stated threaded barrels will be available too.

    We shall see though.

    What I like:

    - a hope for Glock reliability (to be tested with American ammuniton)

    - Safe Action, finally - all previous .22LR pistols have external safeties

    - price is not bad

    What I don't like:

    - a large disconnect between the size and capacity. Ruger SR22 and Browning 1911-22 are significantly smaller, with less grip circumference. Taurus TX22 has 17 rounds. True, target .22 guns are massive, even Victory. But we already have them, we don't need Glock do the same thing. Consider that G19 has 15-round capacity of 9mm, but G44 only 10 of .22 on the same frame. It's absurd.

    - no MOS and no route to one - it changes the mass of the slide too much

Let's not beat up a rimfire pistol for reliability...22lr platforms can be finicky as many of us know. Give me a threaded barrel and suppressor height sights and I'll run one for fun.
