Up to 18 cops discharged dozens of rounds, killing 2 suspects, an innocent bystander, and the hostage (UPS driver).

Watch the video, cops were actually using innocent bystanders cars for cover, with the innocent folks inside them.

Chief says he officers have no responsibility, it all falls on the criminals. So much for police held to a higher standard, so much for you are responsible for all bullets that leave your gun, all the cops went home, so that is that matters.

Maybe next time chief will drop a JDAM, and blame the collateral damage on the criminals.

FBI has been called in to investigate.

Pretty horrible. From what I was able to piece together of videos, it looked like one of the cops who was hiding behind a bystander SUV with a rifle and blindly shooting through the side/rear of the UPS truck was the one who had the angle to shoot the bystander in the back of the neck/head.

I have no idea who that cop is (and I wouldn't post it if I did), and it's a crap mash job so don't go getting pitchforks based on it.

And in Houston Acevedo is crying about his cop that was killed in a domestic call and yelling about Cruz and Cornyn and the NRA and demanding laws to protect his officers... I sent a letter asking about law to protect the public from his lying officers and killing innocent people inside their homes.. We will see if I gat an answer.

Holy crap. What a total shit show. Let me understand this. If a police chase gets fast enough or into areas where the public is at risk they are supposed to disengage, but it’s ok to get into a gun fight around innocents and risk their lives. It’s very confusing to say the least. I understand that with a hostage they really can’t disengage, but what happened to the idea of containment and letting SWAT or a negotiator try and talk.

In all 20/20 hindsight if the thief started shooting, not sure what the cops were supposed to do. Maybe make some effort to extract the folks near by, but then that takes command and control capability. Not sure if that is a reality with that many random folks showing up.

Cluster frak to be sure. Would not want to be any of the cops involved.

Wonder if your average CHL holder got into a shootout and injured 4 bystanders if they would be in jail or at home with people defending their good job? The tax payers will pay out the nose for the injuries.

What bothers me in this case is that it seems there was zero thought by any of the blue forces put into limiting collateral damage during the threat engagement, to include their choices for cover.

That to me is unacceptable.

The perps were in a huge, easily identifiable, slow moving vehicle that had gps, plus a chopper or two overhead.

Why didn’t this play out later when the public wasn’t at risk?

I'm sure the POS cops hiding behind the vehicles are sleeping good tonight. Knowing their family's are safe in their beds. Never mind the innocent bystander family... that don't get to spend Christmas with them. The force wasn't FIT enough to handle this correctly.

I've thought more than once that I'm just as worried about getting shot by the good guys in public scenarios as the bad guys in almost any scenario these days and stuff like this reinforces that feeling. :/
