I prefer the size of the K frame / GP100 over the slightly smaller SP. That and the trigger of the SP101 22 is atrociously heavy IMO.

You've let me try it a couple of times and I do like the way it shoots. I am leaning more toward the larger frame though since it'll be purely for range plinking.
I put the oversized Pachmayr Grips on mine and have zero issues hitting a steel silhouette at 100 yards.

I first found out about the idiot hole behind the cylinder release when I bought a 629. It has since moved to a new home and I don't own a "modern" S&W nor do I ever plan to. Old school, revolvers are six shooters.

You all brought up some old memories. I bought an H&R with a 6 or 8 inch barrel over 40 years ago for about $70 (new). It shoots 22 shorts, longs, and long rifle and has an interchangeable 22 mag. cylinder. Just looked on-line and found the same revolver for $450 (+/-). It has dispatched many a skunk, rabbit, etc. over the years and still works like a charm.
