Next meet, everyone bring your 10/22 mags and we'll have a nice big swap. I'd be happy to trade my Butler Creek for a BX.

Stick with Ruger mags would be the simplest advice.

ANY extended mad can be persnickety is you torque it fore or aft while shooting, as the feed angle can be altered. I suspect at least some of the guys here are having that trouble with the Ruger factory 15 and 25 round mags.

I've had great reliability with the BX-15 mags.
They are easier to insert and remove than the 10s.

I'll piss people off by reminding all that it was Bill Ruger, years ago, that told congress that civilians don't need more than 15 rounds!!!

No, you piss people off with your slobbering adoration of communists.

Everyone knows the company shifted gears and did a 180 when old man Ruger died.

Technically, even prior. Remember who was the father of the magazine ban idea?

    ....

To what, precisely, are you referring?
    I'm vexed.
What on god's green earth gave rise to that emotional outbreak?

    ....................

Back to current topic, I'll still assert that the BX-15 are the best!
Functioned marvelously in my Volquartsen Summit this afternoon!!
But, admittedly, if I torque the mag to the rear whilst shooting soft oily RWS target ammo some will catch on the feed ramp!

With ALL Ruger .22 mags keep them neutral and un-tensioned to facilitate reliable feeding.
Keep los manos OFF the mag.

    :)

I have 4 of the BX 25 mags and all work flawlessly in both the take down and the standard 10/22. Even quit using the stock ten rounders entirely. (I wonder where those are?) Go with the BX 25 and you should have no problems.

Good thing is that you can often find sales on 10/22 magazines, just have to do a little looking.
By the looks of it, I will have to find what works before I go and buy 5-10 of them. Is there any speed loaders that work? The reviews and functionality seem mixed as well. I don't know if there is another gun that is as easy to reload as a Ruger Mk IV with a "McFadden Machine Ultimate Clip Loader" Can load something like 50 rounds in 20 seconds with it.

I've heard good things about this. It's on my list.

Give me crap if you must ;) but my hands cramp up badly after loading a couple of BX-25s. It's probably my emerging carpal tunnel. My thumbs could handle it all day.

Despite my young age, I already have dexterity issues in my hands. I have a Uplula or whatever it's called and use it for the 9mm double stack and 45acp single stack. Without that some magazines I don't think I could get the last 2 in. Some I have trouble even with the Uplula. I will look into the lula loader for 10/22.

When I had my 10/22 many years ago, I only used the Ruger branded mags and never had any issues. I had three 10 rounders, and three 25 rounders and those all worked fine. I also had a 100 rnd drum and that was a piece of junk, don't know how they are now. As far as other mags go, I have heard that the Butler Creek mags are good from friends that have them, the Promags, not so much.

I have 4- 10 round and 5- 25 round mags, all Ruger, for my 10/22 and haven't had many issues with any of them. Although I will admit that I've had a few misfires, but that isn't a mag issue. I have had issues (ftf/fte) with certain ammo, but if I don't have issues with say CCI MiniMags, then is that an actual magazine issue? I have heard bad things about Butler Creek and Promags, so they never inspired me to buy any.

Just sold my 10/22 takedown I wanted so badly due to the same recurring mag issues I have experienced before. No tolerance for that kind of thing. 4 brand new BX25's and a 10 rounder, none of which could make it through a mag full without FTF. Even tried multiple types of ammo. Moving on to an AR9 pistol with an Echo II trigger, with a silencer and LAW folding device. That takes some planning.

I have had my 10/22 for close to 35 years. The Ruger 10rd mags NEVER let me down. Had Eagle and Promag 25 rounders--were all junk. I purchased 4 of the Butler Creek hot lips mags and 1 out of 4 doesn't work. Wobbles in the mag well. Purchased a Ruger BX25 mag at Christmas and it has been flawless--but time will tell.
