So what is a case kicker? A case kicker knocks the shell out of the shell holder on your single stage press. Once you load a case, run the operation (whatever die you are using), and bring the ram back down the kicker knocks the case out so you don't have to manually remove it.

It really speeds up the operation of your single stage press, probably close to doubling the speed or more.

There are commercial units available but I wanted to build my own just to see it I could.

My first thought was to get out the grinder, bolts, drill, etc. but then I decided to make one that could be easily copied using items I had laying around.

All I used was some thick wire and pliers. Gravity turns it out of the way but I added a rubberband to increase speed and reliability.

The wire is just thick steel either for fence repair or used to hang ceiling grid in buildings. Any thick wire will work though.

As you can see it is a pretty simple build and with some tinkering it works very well.

This should be a little project that most can do themselves.

Basically it's just a holder with a T shaped wire. The press handle hits the T and swings the other side over the shell holder knocking the case free.

I do need to make a chute for the cases to fall into but wanted to show the kicker anyways.

The nice part of the design is the T lifts right out if you don't want to use it.

Will post a video of it in action.

If you are trying to speed up your single stage , why not just get a progress press?
I have a progressive for loading in bulk but like to size my rifle cases and tumble them to remove the case lube before loading them.

I know some people don't have the finances to get a progressive and figure this may help them.

Plus I like to tinker and come up with my own solutions to random needs.

Personally I don't think a progressive press makes as accurate of ammo as a single stage press so this press gets used quite a bit for my precision needs.

I’ve got a sequence of placing cases, bullets, etc when running my single stage that lets me hit a decent rate of progress. Removing a step is always nice.

    Nice job!

I’m a big fan of my case kicker. I opted for the one from Inline Fabrication. It makes a huge difference when depriming cases to toss themmin the tumbler.

I added the chute system, and built a catcher tht funnels cases right into the tumbler bucket.

I built a chute for it that funnels reliably into a pipe into my tumbler (or storage box). It works great.

I almost bought the Inline version but didn't like the idea of the spring rubbing the ram all the time. Not that it would wear much but it would also collect grease.

It does rub the ram, but it doesn’t seem to accumulate much crud.

I lube my ram with synthetic motor oil, so it’s very light.

I can scoot the kicker out of the way when I’m doing other tasks with the press, it’s just a couple of thumbscrews.

Overall, I’d say it’s a very good system. My buddy has the Rapid Case Kicker. It seems to work really well also.

Probably the best thing I did, was to add some LED tape light inside the press oval. Being able to see my cases that much better was a game changer.
