    Even though you have data turned off, Google services will/can still use mobile data, this is hard coded into the OS. Also, apps installed can use Google services to "check in" with data turned as well. The only way for the phone to not use data, is to completely power it off. If you can root it and flash a custom ROM, then you can restrict some of the background activity, but not all of it.

    Would what you are saying be able to use 3.5gig of data in a month?
    Don't forget, the phone only leaves the house about 6 hours a week.

    Yes, depending on what apps are installed, it could use that much data. Also being that this is a prepaid device, there is no telling what is installed and what services are running in the background.

    Android.
    Google pixel 2 I think.

    And Verizon.
