The post was about stupid store policies. Carding a fifty something year old person for smokes/ammo/booze is all stupid policies in my book.

    guess that’s my point...
The OPs post stated that they knew each others names.
Both posts are legit. It seems to me lawyers have forced "Corporate" to remove all common sense from the front line staff, which is sad.

    Out here by the lake!
Some companies come up with stupid policies just to weed out their overppaid work staff too. You can be sure that employees are signing off on this crap stating failure to can result in termination. Very few employees handling cash are not on camera. And if corporate desides to sting employees thats all recorded too.

Nobody at Academy has asked me for my ID when buying ammo. I guess it’s because I look old and tired

LOL! I doubt it. Must vary from store to store.

It must. Academy has never even so much as asked me my age when buying ammo and from what I gather, I'm a good bit younger then Mr. Fairbanks.

Damn, in that case I may have wound up trapped in NY or maybe would have had to relocate to TN but I assure you, I am no liberal in any sense of the word. I am Libertarian leaning toward conservatism but most assuredly not liberal. Then again, I find many folks today - even those who consider themselves to be staunch conservatives - have no idea what it means to be conservative or what it is they are supposed to be conserving. Government truly is the problem, at least in its current state of being the equivalent of a tyrannical nanny.
There's no way in hell you've fooled anyone around here into believing "I am Libertarian leaning toward conservatism".

I used to go buy cigarettes at the local convenience store for my dad. Drove there, too. Did that from about 7yo into my teens. The clerks would recognize me as a regular, but it's not like we knew each other. Damn scofflaws the lot of us

As I said, my terms are my terms. My right to sell my goods as I please is not trumped by any of your rights. My terms are my terms, they are not the government's terms although they may be the same in some regard. I use what I please and disregard what I please for my terms. In other words, I control my own sales. If you have a problem with that - you need not buy from me. That is about as conservative as one can be when it comes to the FREE MARKET. I do it my way and you can do it your way. As I said - most people, you for example, have no clue what it means to be either conservative or libertarian. I have no trouble with you doing it your way - I mind my own business.

I put your contradictory words in one convenient location so you can see your hypocrisy but you still don't get it. That's not on me.

It's funny that you defend your very Liberal selling rules by saying Conservatives can make their own rules.

A true Conservative says that they just require what the law says.

You aren't a Conservative or a Libertarian. You are a Liberal that uses those terms to defend your practices.

Don't get me wrong, require whatever you want to make a sale, that's your right. Just keep in mind that it's our right to call you out on your self imposed gun control bullshit too.

Keep in mind too that as more people require a BOS and IDs to sell firearms it becomes easier to make these things laws as people start to think it is a requirement anyways.

I support the 2nd Amendment but.........

Now, if the info at the link in my above post leaves any doubt as to whether or not the government was responsible for all the looney store policies about asking for ID and such to purchase smokes, go to this page and look at the answers to the questions posed there: https://comptroller.texas.gov/taxes/tobacco/faq-reg.php

I have concluded that TX politicians are, at least in some regards, just as fucked up as those in NY.

The first part would have been fine. You are a liberal. You just don't know it. You may be less liberal than most where you came from but you are a liberal, not even close to libertarian or conservative.
Your for sale adds requiring info, not required by law, for personal items proves that.
