I am interested because it looks like a steel barrel and steel slide. I was considering the conversion kit for the CZ Shadow 2 until I saw Glocks advert. I don't like the aluminium slides on a lot of the .22 pistols, they seem to wear too quickly, I currently have a S&W compact and used to own a Sig 938-22. Hopefully the G44 will complement my S&W 617 and Ruger 22-45 for longevity.

The G44 has a polymer slide.

I honestly wouldn't mind a G44 and a G19. It'd be nice to have a .22 practice pistol. Specifically a .22 pistol that isn't ammo picky, and from what I've seen in reviews, the G44 was very much designed to accept a large variety of ammo. I like that it has a hybrid polymer slide, so that it can cycle under low power conditions of many of the .22 cartridges

Any thoughts about a reason it isn’t MRO ready is that the optics would add too much mass and cycling/reliability issues?

Maybe only cycle with Mini Mags or stingers?
I think the rds would be too much weight to the slide to make it cycle reliably.

Personally I prefer irons, I have an astigmatism so they're a bit on the difficult side for me to use.

Doubtful. They could have engineered that into the equation.

My AA conversion can handle the extra weight.

While its not first up on the list to buy in 2020, it is on the list. It sounds better accuracy and reliability wise than my Aluminum Advantage arms Conversion ( riding on steel slide rails, and lose as a beat to heck GI 1911)
It appears zink free unlike the Sig Mosquitos and Walther .22’s
And can be set up with the same trigger and sights I use on my centerfire Glock pistols.
Not a horrible thing at all.

Heck yes, if it has the feel and balance and handling characteristics of a "real" Glock.

Though I'll wait for the 44-TB

    Threaded barrel.

I like the feel of Glocks. I shoot suppressed a lot.
I don't particularly like that centerfire Glocks tend to spit back a lot of powder residue when suppressed.

A 44-TB will be in my shopping list.

I would consider it after supply catches up to demand. I'm certainly not going to pay over MSRP for one.

10 round mag isn't a deal breaker for me. Single stack .22lr mags are generally pretty reliable.
