    Don’t do anything to it. And get it appraised by a Colt appraiser. No other appraiser matters. It could be $1000 gun or a $20,000 from the looks it appears to be very well worn. And that drops value considerably. Any paperwork at all is a huge plus.

    I think most people would refer to that as wiping a gun down, not "buffing".
    More like scrubbing. A couple of hours of vigorous rubbing, wiping, buffing, scrubbing, stroking what the f ever you want to call it, while watching a movie or something makes a world of difference on old and corroded.

    The old guy that let me borrow it for appraisal wanted it back after I told him value was around $600-700. Collector value might be higher..anyway he has it back n I was honored just to hold it.
