Even though I don't believe there has been an honest outcome to any of the NRA elections in decades, I'll vote for whomever has the ability to stand Against laPew .

I've been looking over endorsements. Does it strike anyone as profoundly self-serving that Rock Island Auction Company is endorsing its own President for the election?

To be clear, I don't know him. He may be just great. But can Kevin Hogan wash off the stink of originally getting on the board because he was nominated by the NRA? NRA-generated noms are usually assumed to be "make no waves" candidates...which is exactly the opposite of what the organization needs.

When deciding who to vote for, lots of research is needed. Kevin Hogan, despite being previously endorsed by Ammoland and (probably) a good gun guy, earns a pass from me. He appears to be too completely subsumed by the NRA ecosystem.

Fair enough. I voted for one person and one person only in each of the last two elections. This time, TWO people will get my votes! Buah hah hah!

And nothing will change, Wayne will get some more suits and another house while selling gun owners down the river like the Democrat he was, is, and always shall be. Useless fucktard.

"Absolute power corrupts absolutely." (Lord Acton)

What we see in the NRA power structure is the same thing we see in Congress. They set up a system that makes it nearly impossible to kick anyone out of office. People stay there long enough, they absolutely become corrupt.

Term limits may be painful - sometimes a really good person will get replaced by someone not as capable - but in the long term it limits the ability to build a bunker and suck the membership (or public) dry. There needs to be turnover in the executives at NRA, just as we need turnover in Congress.

I'm not a fanatic about the operation of the NRA. I see some folks that would want nothing less than a call for armed rebellion in order to support the group. I'm a realist - sometimes they have to pick their battles and play politics. LaPew has made it impossible to hold my nose and continue support. Things have to change.

I voted for only two, Graham Hill and Frank Tait.

While the various sources I trust had come to the same conclusion, the most articulate reason for (and against those who I might have otherwise added to my ballot) were covered by John over at onlygunsandmoney(dot)com, an interesting and well done site with excellent coverage of the ongoing NRA fiasco:

    (From John Richardson at Onlygunsandmoney)

You will only see two names chosen on my ballot: Graham Hill and Frank Tait. There are some others on the list who may be worthy of your vote but I am a bullet voter. That is, I pick a limited number of candidates in an effort to increase the efficacy of my vote.

Jeffrey Hague of Ellendate, Delaware is on the ballot but has withdrawn his name. It was too late to remove it from the ballot. From what I read elsewhere, he thinks he can do more for gun rights in Delaware by continuing his work as president of the Delaware State Sportsman’s Association.

Existing Board members who would have been up for re-election but were not renominated include Melanie Pepper, Lance Olson, and Heidi Washington. Melanie Pepper asked too many questions which irritated the Old Guard. She had been removed from her committee assignments. Lance Olson, though long thought to be a member of “Wayne’s Posse”, somehow ran afoul of him. If you remember, he was one of the Board members subpoenaed in the fight in Virginia courts with AckMac. Finally, Heidi Washington, the Director of the Michigan Department of Corrections and daughter of former NRA President Tom Washington, asked not be to renominated.

Frank Tait is running by petition for the Board of Directors. He was the one who authored the petition of no confidence in Wayne LaPierre at the 2019 Meeting of Members. I helped gather signatures for Frank’s petition and continue to support his candidacy. He has a business background that has long been needed in board members. Moreover, he is a NRA Training Counselor, Chief RSO, an Appleseed and Revere’s Riders trainer, and an active IDPA competitor.

I voted for Graham Hill in 2017 and I’m proud to vote for him again. Graham is an attorney, lobbyist, former Congressional staffer, President of the 50 Caliber Institute, and a board member of the American Suppressor Association. Graham is an active 3-Gun competitor as well as a hunter. He does this from a wheelchair and without assistance. With the turmoil in the NRA-ILA, Graham brings the knowledge and experience on Capitol Hill to help provide a guiding hand to it.

I might have voted for Mark Robinson except he is running for Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina. The time he might have devoted to the NRA will be, of necessity, devoted to his campaign.

I do have misgivings about some candidates. For example, Thomas Arvas, Clel Baudler, and Howard “Walt” Walter are all in their 80s. With all due respect to their age and experience, they are past their prime and younger, more active candidates are required if the problems facing the NRA are to be resolved. I also have misgivings about Charles Cotton who is currently the First VP. In addition to being First VP, Cotton has been chair of the Audit Committee for a number of years. Too many things have been rubber stamped after the fact by the Audit Committee. This has contributed to the dysfunction in board governance which in turn has made the NRA vulnerable to the attack by the Attorney General of New York. Then there is John Cushman who is running by petition. His comments at the 2019 Gun Rights Policy Conference thanking women for being there to support their men were sexist, demeaning, and insulting. I know many women expressed to me their disdain for his comments.

This will be my first year voting. I signed up as a life member last spring after going year-to-year for a while, right as all the LaPierre stuff was breaking. In retrospect I wish I'd saved my money, but oh well.

I'm seeing four guys from Texas including Cotton who I'm going to take a pass on. Anybody know any reason not to vote for the other three (RB Rocky Marshall, Leroy Sisco, Richard Figueroa)?

Weird that there are 39 candidates and you can vote for 31. Does the bullet voting thing only work if you just select one or two? I'd like to vote for Mark Keith Robinson but if it helps more to limit it to one or two, I'll probably pick somebody else.

    Yeah...our side lost
Not sure if I trashed it, Wayne mailed me a "whoa is me . . " letter. He said the NRA would collapse after **** years if I didn't contribute. How much did you send? I may 1/2 that in hopes Wayne stays solvent.
