Did anyone get a chance to make it out to the Provost Gun Show at the El Maida Shrine this weekend? A friend told me it was really crowded on saturday, I went to check it out today (Sunday) it wasn't that bad. Lots of good people selling and buying there, I ran into some people I know and met some great Americans. For the most part I saw some pretty good deals on ammo, high-demand magazines and a lot of knives and military surplus gear. Unfortunately the thing I was looking to pick up most (an AR-15 upper assembly) just wasn't being sold in my price range, not to blame anyone they are in very high demand right now. I just wanted to see if anyone else went and gauge their opinions of the show itself. I've been to several over the years, looking forward to the next one in March I think?

I went on Sunday. There weren’t very many vendors. Small crowd. Few selling firearms. The highlight for me was the magazine seller. Never seen him before and I managed to pick up two magazines. His prices were comparable to internet prices but I saved on shipping.

No, I didn't get a chance to make it out there. The advertising for these events is very poor, and I found out through a friend late yesterday morning that it was taking place. With weekend honey-do's lingering, it was truly a no-go for me. I really could benefit from picking up some casting lead or powder: oh well.

IMO, I am not too discouraged that I missed this weekend since the last Provost show I attended was awful. Same 'ol vendors with lots of same 'ol 2012 overpriced items they have been trying to sell show after show. I have found that if I am not there early I shouldn't bother since most diamonds in the rough get bought-up early first thing Saturday morning.

Someone told me there’s a better one in Las Cruces.

Has anyone here been to both?
Somewhat better yes. They have more tables selling items people actually want. Very few coin tables, and no book tables from what I can remember. Prices are fair but you still run into some of the overpriced stuff from time to time. The Las Cruces show sometimes coincides with the RV show which is a plus. The last event I went to I purchased a 10-22, but also an RV cover for my Jayco. It was very nice.
