In a World where Integras are selling for $80K, $300K for a Datsun doesn’t seem too crazy.

Jk it’s fucking ridiculous, especially considering my hate for nissan.

Why? Best car I ever owned was a 1992 Maxima.
That thing just never aged. Rode great. Handled like a dream and would flat haul ass.

Well that’s probably why, it was a bubble era Japanese car lol. I don’t have beef with their old products, mainly the company as it is now.

Their current lineup is stagnant and some of their cars haven’t had a major overhaul or redesign in 15 years, such as the Nissan Frontier. The 370Z has also largely been the same since it came out, but prices are staying the same. They’re currently in turmoil since their *former* CEO, Carlos Ghosn, did some shady shit and then fled japan inside of a box to avoid prosecution.

In his defense, Japan does have unusually high conviction rates. Not to detract from any of his wrongdoings though...

Sis used to have a bright red 280Z. She got rid of it because it didn't seem capable of staying under 85mph on the highway. :)

ETA - She also had a Merkur XR4ti, but that's another story

Many Japanese cars have higher ratings for durability than American cars. Honda, for many years, had the highest and was one of the most stolen, especially their VTEC engine cars.

That "most stolen" statistic always bothers me. Wow, a Honda Accord is the most stolen! Maybe because it's the most purchased too? I'd rather see a non-dimensionalized statistic that shows the percentages of Accords stolen vs. sales.

Many stolen end up in Mexico.

About 10-11 years ago at my first job, my coworker had an Integra type R. Everyone was leaving at the end of the day, when he realized his car was gone. It was found stripped at an apartment complex a few days later.

He replaced it with another cheaper Integra. Walked out again one night to find someone had crowbar’d his hood slightly open to try to disconnect the battery to prevent the alarm. They clearly gave up, but the damage was still there.

    You’re totally right.
But there’s one other issue that kept Honda’s on the list for quite some time.

From the 80’s thru the 90’s, a worn-out Honda key would literally work on other other Hondas. So they were incredibly easy to steal.
